Very suggestive location. The sea is gorgeous. You can reach, in a short time, many of the most beautiful towns in Sicily: Noto, Modica, Ragusa Ibla, Ispica, Porto Palo. The only negative note about Marzamemi are the slightly expensive restaurants. A piece of advice: if possible avoid the busiest periods (e.g. July-August).

Marzamemi village. The central square with its churches, tiny stone fishing huts and many restaurants is well worth a visit. Vibrant colourful square with a distinctly Greek flavour.

Never heard of it but was advised to visit by a Sicilian. About 30 mins from Noto. Supposed to be really nice at night. We had 2 hours here in the late afternoon and were able to easily park right near the heart of the old town.
Beautiful, old fishing village that appears to be morphing into a tourist hot spot. The square was gorgeous. Early July but not overcrowded so we enjoyed our stop with a drink in the square and some shopping. Looks like plenty to do and a nice change from the bigger towns.

We are pleased that we visited this place even though we thought we would be visiting a tuna museum. The building is now not accessible unless you are going to a function there.
However the surrounding area is lovely to walk around and stop to admire the views.
I definitely would NOT go here in high season.
Worth a visit if you are going this way out of main season

Feels like time hasn't changed for the past 3,000 years! The most amazing tuna factory. Definitely worth the detour.

this large warehouse is on the beautiful beach front. You can buy most packaged jars and tins of different fish here as well as the famous dried tomatoes that grow in abundance in sicily.A really small quaint place with lovely places to eat on the beach.

A wonderful fishing village that has gone from being a gritty hard working tuna harvesting town / tonnara, to a chic & squeaky clean tourist village. A beautiful square, gorgeous buildings, mega new breakwater pier, pleasant marina.
The tuna industry is still well represented here, but the sights and smell of the harvest are presumably gone. I'm sure many of the older locals lament the passing of it's 'industry' days, but alas a new era has arrived, and good restaurants dominate the scene now. We stuck with the theme and stuck with Tonno Rosso panini & graniti - delicious !
We visited by car in early tourist season and had easy parking a few blocks away. A pleasant stroll along the waterfront to the village center.

Not just this place but the little town of Marzamemi is definitely worth a visit. You'll walk around it an about an hour. Go, sit, eat food, drink coffee or wine and observe.

I visited Marzamemi as part of a day trip to Sicily. We went there for Lunch there. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Restaurants are situated by the sea, and since we went there during summer, we really loved the sea breeze while eating.
After lunch we walked along the promenade and took some nice pictures over there.
Marzamemi is a place where you can only spend a couple of hours. There isn't much to do there - except eating!

Ma la tonnara è visitabile oppure no? Perchè da alcune recensioni sembra di si poi pero' leggendo ho visto che è un ristorante per eventi????Non capisco
Written May 3, 2017
