It was such a powerful meditation that We ended up going back the following day and doing it again. The walk through the beautiful and unusual for Provence forest was just as memorable as the view from the top and the grotto itself. Even the...More

Driving through the beautiful forest in the autumn to get there was great experience. We arrived a bit late, but still could go to the church on the top of the mountain. Try to come earlier because I think they close it around 5.30 or...More

We had no idea where we were going that day. Ou relatives planned this hike to the grotto. It is built in the middle of some sheer cliff. It is about an hour one way, depending on people in your party. The walk through the...More

Quite out of the way and off the beaten path, but definitely worth the detour. Even to a nonbeliever like me, there is a special energy in the air, perhaps due to the dramatic setting and the beauty of the ladscape? For those who are...More

Visited a October 16 with niece and nephew, they, locals assurred me the hike up was doable. A fairly active 68 year old, pacing myself, managed it quite well. Once up, the unique setting, the view of the valley below and good company made for...More

Unique religious place to visit. Can be a demanding walk. No climbing, but steep. Not far from Marseilles. In the mountains above the city. Can be a thrilling experience to drive up to the mountains. The scenery is breathtaking.

On your long walkto the top make sure you take water with you,and also food for after the visit as is no shops except post cards and souvenirs. The only way up is walking,no cars allowed.

We visited the Grotte de Sainte Marie Madeleine on a cloudy, wet day and did wonder if we were doing the right thing in setting off on foot from the car park in the pouring rain! The path was clearly marked, "Chemin du Roi", and...More

This was a highlight of my trip for sure. After getting lost for several hours while driving, I finally found my way to the parking lot. I hiked up the steep, wide road for about 45 minutes, noting that there were a lot of elderly...More
