To say we are angry is an understatement. Arthurs Lake booked for 5 nights next week from monday to Saturday of which it has been since April this year with deposit sent. 6 anglers eagerly awaiting a trip next week all bar one had to book time of work which is unchangeable, only to have a phone call Tuesday morning 6th OCT, 5 days before we were to attend, a phone call to say our trip is canceled due to work being moved forward. Yes we are getting the deposit back BUT it was only when a heated phone call to the that them so owner contacted us to offer a free place on Arthurs pool possibly later in the year. Its too soon to find another venue where we can all be there, there is simply no way we can all book another week of work, its bad enough that one of our crew is an 67 years old and a disabled chap again been keep in side for a lot of this year both hasnt had much time to fish this year due the covid situation, the cancelation and treatment is disgusting to say the least. We dont care you have a million pound project happening, what we care about is the effort some of us have had make to get this time off work. An owner who the last lock down was happy for us to stay on for another few days during lock down. Feel free to delete this post. We won’t be back.

We have just come back from 4 days at this venue and fished 2 of the three lakes here. What I am about to right is purely my own opinions only but written from someone who has been fishing at mid to high level for over 30 years, match, carp and pleasure. I am also very close to very well respected carp angler s in the industry who write for magazines and have bait companies etc. Positives first. Lakes are exceptionally clean and well maintained, some of the best I have ever seen all over Europe. I fished with my wife also (experienced) on both Foundry and Heron lakes. We fished all 4 days of our break and caught well on every day including my wife beating me in a match on Foundry lake. On Heron we fished Pole, feeder and carp rods using everything from corn, meat, pellet and additional carp baits. and had multiple fish mainly carp in very good condition up to 8lb. It was really brilliant to not knowing that when the float went under or the quiver tip bent round what would be on the other end. We had tench, bream Roach, Crucian, Rudd, beautiful scaled pattern mirror carp and perfectly formed common carp. All good but here is my on personal theory on claims of fish size / weights in certain lakes. On Heron lakes it claims to we carp to 30lb? I estimate between us and every other person (total of 5) we see fish the lake on the four days we where there that nothing over 8lb was caught including speaking to a guy who had been here last year as well and had over 29 fish but never seen anything over 5-8lb. I am an obsessive water watcher and didn’t see anything of any size role, jump, surface, splash etc. So I ask this question. This lake had 6 swims that where permanently free. Why is a day ticket water that hold carp - 30lb and multiple doubles got so many free swims. Lastly on my over all thoughts on fish stock claims all pics of carp over 20lb on Arthur’s or other lake seem to be in or around 2017 Why are there no recent photos of sizeable fish? Ask yourself if you added a review of a venue with claims of carp from mid doubles to over 50lb including multiple 20’s, 30’s etc why is the place not rammed with carping day ticket anglers in every swim. I really hope I am wrong but like most things in life honesty is best and don’t try to mug off anglers as you will get found out. So Ironically after that rant I will probably still return as I am all around angler and the lakes, settings, cleanliness and mix of stock however I will not unless proven otherwise be having such high expectations of anything in double figures.

Myself and my husband booked this for our wedding anniversary, mainly because he loves fishing and for me just the peace and quiet. We stayed in the Teal lodge it was really a home from home and had everything you could possibly need with the added extra of the hot tub. The fishing peg for this lodge was just outside the lodge gate so not far to walk with the cups of tea 😊 Staff were helpful and friendly, nothing seemed like it was too much trouble. Upon leaving we were asked if we had enjoyed our stayed and was even asked if we thought any changes needed to be made or anything that would make it better. It was nice to know that staff actually cared instead of just taking the bookings and not being bothered 😕 The only downside at the time was the restaurant wasn’t open but that was due to COVID-19 so that couldn’t be helped. We look forward to booking again and hopefully next time we’ll be able to try the restaurant.

Just got back from a 48hr fishing trip. I was recommended certain dates by staff as I would get a better experience due to maintenance work. How wrong. Diggers. Repair trucks the works 10metre from my bivvy all day long giving of lots of noise. I never had anyone check my rigs or equipment upon arrival. Neither did my friend. I feel given fish of such big sizes in such a small pond, fish safety should be treated with better respect. Anyone could have turned up and used anything! I didnt even get asked to dip my nets! Shower block was ideal located and had good facilities Rubbish bins on ever peg. Brilliant idea! However all of them was over flowing and rubbish left on the floor. Plenty of staff walking around could have kept up with basic cleaning duties. Staff should reccomend to anglers best way to fish the lakes. I had a guy opposite me casting heavy leads out every 15 minutes into my swim and I'm not over exaggerating. Friendly dog walking around. Assuming lives of site. Dog mess surrounding my peg... Could have done without. Well over priced Very poor experience

Booked a night fishing over the phone for Thursday the 18th of March . Few days before we were due to arrive someone from the site rang my partner just to inform us that they had a little work going on and would that be ok . As we didn’t think it would be a problem we decided to go ahead with our visit upon arrival the whole entrance to the site was blocked off and we were informed we couldn’t gain entrance to the site and we were to park on the grass verge . Clearly this was more than a little work going off . We were offered help down to our pitch and because we were staying over night we had brought rather a large amount of equipment with us we were taken to our pitch followed with our things . Friday morning we were awoken At 6am by the noise of building equipment being used. We decided to pack up our things as it states you have to be off site by 8am . I went down to reception to ask if it was possible to have help moving all our belongings back to our vehicle. The lady on reception said there was someone waiting to get there things onto site so once the gentleman who helped us the day before started work he would help us take our things then help those waiting to get on with theirs . We waited a while but decided to start to move some of the things ourselves walking from the furthest pitch we had to walk past all the machinery being used which I thought was very dangerous but had no other option . Not once did they offer to stop working to let us past or offer for us to drive our vehicle down . All in all it took us five trips to load our things . I decided to make them aware in the reception of my disappointment to which the lady replied I’m so sorry I will get the owner to give you a call . To which we never received. If we had of been made aware of the full extent of the work being done we would definitely not have chosen to stay here . For this reason we will not be returning to this site .
