So many wineries can be a bit off putting if you are not a big wine buff but there was such a friendly welcome here. Joined a small group for a tour and tasting for 5 euro. Tour was short but informative and there was a good film which everyone enjoyed. Tasted a white, a red and two dessert wines.... More

An excellent visit to one of Crete's up and coming wineries, 5 euros gets you a short tour and quite a lot of quality wine to sample. The staff were very knowledgeable and the video / DVD very informative. I think that we were lucky to get here an hour before a large party came from the cruise ship though.... More

Visited Santos winery first, it was to die for, beautiful location and fabulous wines. We visited many other wineries and found the all lovely. we were very under impressed with Boutari, the location, it was very hot in the building and Unattractive, very small pours for the amount of money that you pay for the food and wine pairing. I am in the wine business in the U.S. and thought it would be fun to do a winery visit while visiting Crete. Boutari is one of the wines I carry and I enjoyed being able to see their facility. We had some trouble figuring out how to book a tasting on the website, so we just showed up unannounced.... More

We enjoyed a short visit to the Boutari winery on the island of Crete in Greece. The winery is an easy drive from Heraklion. The view is beautiful, the winery clean & tasteful, the wine tasting is served in front of large windows with the view of the hills of vines. The tasting is accompanied by a short, oral (not... Easy to find, beautifully designed, and with a traditional wine cellar, this is worth a visit if you're in the area. We found this to be the perfect alternative to the over-hyped and crowded Knossos not far away. Very friendly and welcoming with some good wines, some of which we bought for later consumption. The only strange bit was the... More

This was a very disappointing tour. I thought I would learn more about wine, how it is made, how to taste it, and would see how the grapes are grown. Instead I learned nothing. The guide that met us upon arrival immediately let us know that the wine being produced at the facility was not from grapes grown there. She... More

Arrived through Knosos, 15 minutes and you are there. The view is lovely and the winery is well designed with a crisp clean look. The winery tour (5 Euro ) was good interesting and we relaxed with their hypnotic film (don't fall asleep) ... Followed short wine tasting and nice gifts of their fine wine. Take some time to chill... More

We visited the winery on a day trip in Heraklion. The faculty was excellent, the guide who took us through the cellars was knowledgable and pleasant, and we thoroughly enjoyed the wine. Only one negative, and it's a big complaint..., is that we were required to sit through a silly film that was supposed to relate wine to mythology. The... More

Our travel agency TrueGreece arranged a culinary/wine tasting experience at Boutari. It was only me and my husband learning how to cook some Cretian plates. We learned how to do about 4 appetizers, one main course and a dessert. After we made preparations we had a wine tour and finally got to eat our creating while pairing it with some... More
