About
Welcome to Verekinthos Arts & Crafts village! In keeping with the long tradition of craftsmanship in our region, in 2000 we created “Verekinthos”, which is a model environment for reviving and sustaining the arts which have always been an integral part of Cretan life and culture. At "Verekinthos" we run silversmith’s and goldsmith’s as well as workshops for ceramics, sculpture, glass making, hagiography, painting, leather, fabric and textile applications, wood working, decorative objects and traditional musical string instruments. We also run workshops and classes for pottery, painting, sewing and textile art. Upon visiting you will be able to explore approximately 10 workshops which are open on a daily basis, meet the artists while they create and also, find a variety of local handmade and unique traditional and modern artwork. We are looking forward to welcoming you!

The Artist's Village in Souda is a wonderful and calm place in which various artists have gathered to present and sell their creations. Each cabin contains a totally different style of artistic works; pottery, welding, chiselling in stone, quilting, shoemaking etc.
Most of these artists live in the space above their workshop.
There isn't any publicity for this place, unjustly!
Although many of the galleries are closed, we spent two hours looking at the various works and conversing with the artists.
The court between the galleries is well kept, plants and exhibits around.
This village is open for the public between 10am to 2pm.
A really nice and interesting visit.

Beautiful, interesting and quite place. Don#T expect a busy place. Take some time and look closely and you have the possibilty to find many different handmade things. From glassworks to jewlery, sculptures of stone and wood, pottery and leatherworks you can find many unique pieces there. Best time to go there is between 10-14 o'clock. In this time you have a good chance to find the shops open.

There were about 10 potters, of which 5 open when we visited. Also couple of jewellery places, one painter and some other crafters were open. Everybody present were friendly and willing to tell about their design and working techniques, for example Tokias jewellery and sculpture, Tetraktis pottery, Klinomos icon painter and the pottery shop next to Klinomos.

This place may once have been thriving, but now it's pretty much abandoned. Only a couple of the units showed any sign of occupancy by artists, and they were closed. The rest looked like a school that closed down ten years ago and was left to the encroachments of nature. Very sad.

unexpected attraction just few minutes drive from chania town-crafts village with show rooms and studios with workshops: jewellery, pottery, glass makers. Good to shop directly from artists.

This supposed to be a beehive of artists and handcrafters. I think this was the initial concept. What I saw, was definetely the tries of some young people to create something, but with no support from anywhere. The place is almost deserted. We went there to visit a friend but i was shocked by the deserted atmosfere. It is certenly charming if you like the decadence settings but not easy to make you visit it again

A lovely little crafts and art village, with mainly poetry studios.
Very friendly and welcoming folks.
A quiet place, just a short drive from the city.
Highly recommended 👌!!!

Hello Jenni! Thank you for your request!
There are currently two workshops that offer courses, one is Tetraktis Studio Pottery which offers of course pottery courses and the other one is Klironomos Art which offers painting courses.
Unfortunately i am not allowed to send over this form contact information so if you wish you can find the contact info throught their facebook pages.
However, i shall inform you that besides attending classes at the village, it is a special exprerience for tourists and locals to visit this place. Most of the workshops are open on a daily basis 10:00-16:00 except Sundays. Visitors can visit the workshops and see the artists working, talk to them or browse their showrooms and find handicrafts of unique style.
Also, should you need some flyers of the village to give to your customers let us know and we can arrange that you get some :)
Have a good day,
Anneta
