I came across Xay's website, and after reading about his ideals I was determined to find my way there. Take a boat from Nong Khiaw to Muang Ngoy and tell them to drop you off in Sop Keng, or hike there from either of the villages (Nong Khiaw, or Muang Ngoy). You will absolutely not regret it. Spend there a few nights if time allows and simply sink in to the environment; nature, food, silence, local village and above all excellent host. If you only have a day to spare, still go visit the waterfalls, and stop by for coffee or tea and to say hi to Xay!

I spent 4 days with Xay in his farm, as volunteer, this place is a haven of peace, a little place of paradise! Xay, is a lovely man whith a big heart and he built everything on his own!He also created real links with all the people of the village, everyone feels at home in Yensabai farm and help each other as he can! More than a break to drink a tea, it's a beautiful project and person to support! Thank you again Xay for your generosity and for what you are :)

I had the honour to spend three days with Xay and his family, such a wonderful humans with big heart and a lot of knowledge to share. The best place for getting out from the chaos of city and civilisation, deep in nature and the secret beauty of north Laos.

Xay's farm is a peaceful and beautiful example of how to achieve a balance of tranquility and the work that it takes to maintain an organic farm in new and ancient ways. Xay is a welcoming, humorous, dedicated and loving host.

I had the most amazing few days staying at the farm. I turned up with a random guy I met on the bus and we were greeted with open arms. The food was incredible - so fresh! Being away from wifi was a blessing too. Loved the simplicity of everything. Thank you for an amazing stay!

We found this place in the middle of our trip, and decided to stay there for 4 days. This is the perfect place for travellers seeking a different place to explore. The ownwr-Xay, built this lovely sustainable home by himself, with the help of friends and family. Every door, handle, chair or hammock was placed with a lot of thought for it's functioning , along with some smart design. In those 4 days Xay made us feel more at home than our real home..with the best papaya pancakes, amazing food, long talks on the porch and some guitar songs (or was it just one song?...:)).
Doesn't matter if you are planning on volunteering for a few days and helping out with the farm (great experience during your visit!) or if you are just stopping by for some flower tea on your way to the waterfall ( highly recommended- located 20 minutes from the farm), don't miss out this lovely place! Take a walk around, see the different plants, fruits, vegetables and herbs, breath in the amazing landscape and sit for a talk with the friendliest guy in Laos.

Can anyone tell me if this Farm is still operating? I've emailed and sent a Facebook message some time ago and not gotten a response which makes me think they may no longer exist?
Written September 5, 2019
Probably it is. He doesn’t have internet though, of at least he didn’t when i was there over a year ago. As he is very busy with the farm, he doesn’t have a lot of chances to go to the village/city to read his e-mail! Just have a bit more patience 😊
