After two miserable seasick hours on the boat from Santa Cruz, I wasn't sure I could handle anymore that day. Not to worry- you just cruise around the quiet little bay/lagoon looking at all kinds of interesting critters, and can snorkel if you like. Wet suits are helpful but not essential. We paid $45 each which was more than the people who shopped around paid. Still money well-spent.

Great walk around the lava rocks. See huge groups of marine iguanas and sally light-foot crabs. Saw some Galapagos penguins and white-tip sharks in the inlet and surrounding waters. The snorkeling was great too, swimming over all those sleeping sharks below is quite the rush, and we were lucky to have some playful sea lions in the water with us. Also saw turtles, stingrays, and starfish.

Amazing experience!

A short boat trip from Puerto Villamil dock brings you to Las Tintoras a small island of lava rock. We had a short walk around the largest of the rocky formations on which we came across marine Iguanas, Blue-footed Boobies, Sea Lions and in the ocean, we saw marine turtles and in a small channel some 50 to 75 white tipped sharks. Once back on the boat the guide went to an area for snorkelling. On a nearby rock two penguins were sitting waiting for their photo to be taken, this really was a great boat trip.

Very short compulsory guided tour just a stone throw from the dock priced from 40 USD with too option step on the rock and walk 1 hour and rest snorkeling or kayaking tour which is purely kayak and snorkel for 3 hours. Unfortunately I did not like the tour too much, my prime was to see penguins, unfortunately we did it see any. Also water was murky due to the high tide. Still we could spot turtles, eagle ray, shark and some tropical fishes. On the rock you can see laze some iguanas, crabs and birds flying above you such as blue footed boobies or frigates.

Took the Tintorreras 230PM tour on 8/16/21 procured through Rosedelco. Pablo was our guide.

Here's what was weak:

We pulled up close to see penguins and a few boobies, then we pulled away. It seemed more like a quick photo opp than a chance to actually see these birds do anything.

Next we went on a VERY slow "hike" (it was a saunter, really) to look at iguanas and tintorreras in some shallow water. There was another boat out on this island as well, and it seemed as though we were trying to avoid overlapping. We wound up overlapping, which wasn't a huge deal, it just really seemed like an unnatural experience to again, maximize photos.

We lastly went snorkeling. We saw one manta ray and numerous turtles, nothing extraordinary. By the end, it just seemed as though Pablo was trying to keep us in the water for a certain period of time. This was to the detriment of all the people who had seemed to book the tour through the Wooden House - they did NOT have wetsuits, unlike us and the guide. One woman was shaking from cold, and another guy had blue lips.

I'd do this tour again with 1) a different guide 2) a tour that involved multiple stops.

In our opinion, a bit of an exaggerated tour. Actually, they are some rock formations (lava rocks) right on the harbor. A few penguins live on a part of it where you stay with the boat for about 20 minutes and they talk about it a bit. Then you go “walking” on the “island”. What it boils down to is that you walk up and down one path, where you spend more time standing still in the same place than walking. You see some sharks in a canal, which is of course nice. Then you go snorkeling where you snorkel around the rock formation back towards the harbor. The nice thing is that you see a sea turtle and end up in a canal where you snorkel over sharks. However, don't expect local and numerous colored fish. For this you better have snorkeling tours.

Las Tintoreras are just offshore so it's a short boat ride. The lava formations are neat. This is one of the few places you will see penguins in the Galapagos. The snorkeling is bland. The water is murky and there isn't much to see. It is neat snorkeling through the lava channels and the hike was neat also. Don't book online. The cost is 2 - 3 times more than if you go to the island and book there.

Short boat ride over to an island. A stroll around to see wildlife. It was nice taking a walk and we were the only tour there at the time. Nice bay to see turtles, sea lions and a few sharks. Then folks changed on the deck of the small boat for the snorkel. The water was freezing, even with a shortie wet suit!! A few people stayed on the boat. Those who swam were shivering when out, but saw over 100 sharks in a narrow lava path/tube at the very end of the swim. It's really about that short section of the tour - seeing the shark. The rest was just ok.

this place is fantastic to see all kinds of wildlife. We took a day trip out there and it was a definite highlight of our trip. Our guide was very eager to show us everything. Sea turtles, sharks, seahorses, blue footed boobies, octopus and giant manta rays on the way out and back. Don't hesitate, book this trip now!

LOVED this quick and easy kayak trip. It was just 4 people (2 kayaks) and felt like we had the whole area all to ourselves. Saw so much wildlife and the snorkeling was wonderful, in crystal clear water. HIGHLY recommend this!! Oh, and DEFINITELY recommend the kayaking option over the walking tour. There's just not much to see (and you'll have seen it all before anyway) so the kayaks are the WAY TO GO!
