We booked two tours with this company, a half day to Los Tintoreras and full day to Los Tuneles. We were told the first trip was three hours but we were back in our hotel less than two and a half hours later. The guide leading the snorkelling seemed on an absolute mission to get the activity completed quickly so none of us had time to appreciate the wildlife in the sea. The second trip was good and the guide extremely knowledgeable and helpful. However, despite having ordered vegetarian and vegan lunches (which we were told wasn’t a problem) there was no lunch for us other than a small packet of Oreos. This wasn’t good as the activity was over five hours. We went to the office to complain afterwards - and what a surprise, they weren’t in the least bit interested. The two trips together cost $600 for four, so this situation left a sour taste in our mouths. There are plenty of tour operators around the central square - chose another one if you want tours out of Puerto Villamil

Surtrek travel agency in Quito provided us with our naturalist guide, Peter, for our 3 day visit in Puerto Villamil, Isabela. Peter works in one of the many tour operators in the village, Arcitravel SA.bbHe is very personable, passionate and knowledgeable about the Island he was born and lives on. He is a remarkable person in that he showed genuine excitement about the places and things we saw with him even though he must have seen these things thousands of times. We hiked on Cerra Negra and Volcan Chico, saw giant land tortoises, biked to Wall of tears, snorkel and visited Los Tuneles with him. He took us to places he played in as a child and told us stories about the locals, pirates, Prisoners, and guards from the past. The travel operator provided us with good equipment.
