OK, but a bit messy...
Jan 2020
Going to Koh Phayam there was a bit of chaos what boat to get on...
All luggage is put in a big pile in the middle, but otherwise the trip is OK.
Going back we almost lost one of our bags to a chine company, so try to keep track of your bags, nobody else will do it.

Fast

Things to know, Cost 350 Bht each way, if possible book in advance, otherwise you might have to wait,or take the slow boat which takes 2 Hrs as opposed to 40 Mins.

We took the speed boat to Kho Phayam and it was a good ride....fast and smooth...not much else to say....it only takes about 45 minutes as opposed to the "slow boat" which takes 2 hours

Speedboat!

I got the speedboat from Ranong to Koh Chang and it was 350 baht taking 30 minutes and was a pleasant experience!
You also get given life jackets which is good for safety.

Well worth a visit, speedboat quick and a good service friendly staff.... On return or were dropped off at a different quay, but a driver was waiting for us, unfortunately nobody informed us, so if the driver hadn't recognised me we would have had a very long walk...... Different quay do to tide being out..... No issues

Two piers
Dec 2018 • Couples
I only used the slow boat, please be aware that the speed boats and the slow boats leave Ranong from different piers, they also arrive at Koh Phayam at different piers too. Safety has vastly improved, there has to be a life jacket for everyone, officials come on to the boat and photograph everyone wearing them.
The slow boat is authentic and carries goods and produce on the lower deck, for me it was part of the trip, drinks are available, don't rely on the wi-fi though.
