This is a great place to visit if you are a photographer and appreciate beautiful landscapes. This place is very special through many different seasons and present travelers with completely different feelings depending on the time of year and the weather.

The cost if 80rmb if you go through the main gate. If you want to save money as you are approaching the rice terraces, there is a small village that you can ask to be dropped off at. Once there navigate the narrow alleyways and work your way up the stairs until you find the path that takes you up into the rice fields. You can work your way all the way up to the main view points and then either leave through the same way you came or exit at the entrance of the view. there are two ticket check areas. If you buy a ticket it allows you to enter the stone village which is about 4 km from the rice terraces. ( there is no bus to the village so you have to walk back). To catch the bus back to Yunhe go to the village where you were dropped off and flag the bus down (a little cheaper going back). There is a last bus (16:30?) so you need to pay attention to the time. total time to walk the terraces 2-3 hours, more if you go to the stone village as well.

Travelers need to arrive at Yunhe County in Lishui City and take a bus to Zhangjiadi which is available in every one hour from 6:30 to 17:00 (10rmb)

The local She minority in the villages near the rice terraces do not speak much, if any, mandarin. However, the woman on the bus collecting money does speak some. helpful to know a little mandarin.

Absolutely worth including in your itinerary, still very quiet and undiscovered and not as tourist packed as the Dragon's Backbone terraces.

visited this beautiful area and the stone village nearby and climbed many steps tracing a multitude of waterfalls surrounded by greenery. A great escape from shanghai and well worth seeing this, the other side of China. We had a guide from the local tourist centre and a driver all for 100 dollars for the day including a good lunch.

The terraces are located at a surprisingly high altitude. The road there, while well paved, is often narrow and winding. Definitely not for the faint hearted. We were driven there by a local host who was clearly familiar with the route at a quiet time of year. The attraction itself is well laid out with a smooth, broad paved walkway the follows a ridge overlooking the valleys below. Information billboards are available. Towards the end of the viewing walkway a series of block paved steps take you down into the heart of the terraces. The entry fee was a reasonable 80RMB. Worth a visit if you’ve never seen rice terraces up close before. However we weren’t entirely convinced they actually deliver on their reputation as the most beautiful terraces in China.

Very beautiful. Go to yunhe city with bus at the west bus station of Lishui 16Y. Do not take taxi to go to the view. Take small bus at the bus station (show the picture at the office) it's 10 Y. Taxi 200Y! !! You have to pay 80 Y to see the view but you can go next and it's free !

This place is definitely worth to visit. Make sure to check the weather in advance. I had 2 days trip, on the first day it was rainy and foggy so I couldn’t see anything. Then on the second day weather was beautiful so I was lucky to see all the fields and walk around them.
To get there take a train to Lishui, then take a bus to Yunhe County from station which is next to train stop. You can stay either in Yunhe town or in some guesthouse within villages around the fields. Anyway there is a bus running maybe every hour from Yunhe right to the fields.
I believe the best time to visit the fields is August or October :)
