The city authorities probably have tight control on entrance to the market of water taxis in Venice. One would think this should be an ubiquitous and affordable service in a canal town, but it is actually a luxury. You can't go anywhere in one for less that 70 euro, and the ride from the airport is over a hundred. When you have more than four people or four pieces of large luggage, you get charged extra. But it is the quickest and most pleasant way to go between the city and the airport.

This water taxi ride from the airport was probably the Most Memorable part of our family trip that stopped in Venice.
It was a little walk from the a Terminal, but well worth it . Our water taxi looked just like the one George Clooney took to his wedding . It is an exhilarating experience, not to mention you get there light years faster than the water buses( Ug, have done that as well. I do not recommend it. They are hot, they are soooooo slow! They stop a lot! I say if you are going to Venice .... but aside some money for the water Taxi! You will not regret it !

Our transfer form the Marco Polo Airport to our Venice hotels started with so much promise. We were greeted by a lovely girl who loaded our luggage and drove us to the pier. Where we were met by a pretty ornery water taxi 'pilot'. The trip itself was extremely pleasant and water taxi is really the very best way to travel in Venice. Upon booking I had made it very clear that we wanted door to door service, and it was assured. We had 2 drop offs at 2 different hotels. This point we had to argue with the driver even though I showed documentation of this fact. It took a phone call to get confirmation of what I knew was correct. We were then dumped at the pier and told that out hotel was 'up the alley and to the left'. At this point in time we were jet lagged, had no cell service and no idea where we were. After 5 minutes of lively conversation a porter was provided to us , for an additional 25 euro, to help us navigate our 5 bags to our hotel which was in fact hidden in a myriad of alleyways! We never would have found it. Whilst I understand the challenges of the tides preventing us from reaching our hotel it astounds me that we were just dumped and told to find our own way. Especially after I explicitly requested that the service be door to door. Had the porter been provide from the beginning I would have had no problem and this would have certainly prevented unwanted stress at the start of our holiday.

I made a reservation in advance for pick up at Venice airport, to take me to my hotel near Piazza San Marco. When I landed, I realized I made the res for the wrong day. I called while still taxi’ing, and by the time I came out of baggage claim, passport control, Ms Antigua had rearranged everything for me! Less than 20min And she could not have been nicer. Kept texting me to be sure Manuel picked me up, and I arrived safely on the water taxi! Will definitely use them again!

Worst arrival at destination experience EVER. After we landed at Venice Airport me and my partner wanted a special start of the holiday and thus ordered a 130eur private water taxi to our hotel. The staff at the desk was very friendly, but the driver was horrible. When we arrived at the pier he immediately started screaming at us that we were too late and he was waiting for 15 minutes. The walk from terminal to docks is already 10mins so no clue what his problem was. He kept screaming and when my wife tried to calm him he even told her she was a spoiled bitch. Clearly this guy shouldn't be in this business so Venice Water Taxi please fire the driver that was on Taxi no. 8 on monday september 19th.

Don't waste your money on private water transfers they are up to 150 euros each way.
The water bus from the airport into Venice takes just over an hour and is 15 euros each- bargain.
There are ticket machines near the jetties and at the airport, instructions in english

Booked the premium service which included the Canal Grande tour before the hotel drop off point. The driver was late to pick us up, he never spoke a word to us in the car and upon arrival at the water pier just pointed to the boat and was gone. The boat was nice but just took us to the hotel drop off point, NO CANAL GRADE TOUR. We wouldn’t use again or recommend but we hope those of you who do book, get what you pay for.

We were assured to be met on arrival at Marco Polo Airport, however after searching for the driver for over 10 mins they eventually appeared. Another couple of guests appeared and they were whisked away before us and we were left waiting in the airport terminal for a further 10 mins. The driver re-appeared and drove us to the pier where the boat was waiting. The boat pilot dud not speak to us at all throughout the whole journey over to Venice and even when we got off the boat. Not worth the money at all, especially when you can easily walk to the Pier in less than 10 mins & jump on a private boat for a third of the price.

Ordered a water taxi, we asked them the price on phone and they said 90 euros. When the driver came he said 140 euros. They change the prices so you pay more. I wish I could give it a zero star that's how bad they are. Driver was also very rude and had a bad attitude.

What a fantastically memorable trip back to the airport. Venice is a city high on price and low on value. These stunning water taxis deliver on both - pricey but worth every cent. As we raced across the midnight lagoon we watched a magical Venice disappear into the distance like a hazy mirage. Magical, exhilarating & unforgettable.

Could I ask if there are any specific private water taxis from the airport that are more suited and accessible for people with mobility issues. We are a family of 6 requiring direct transfer to our accommodation in April 2020

Hi there. Sorry but I've only just seen this. I booked Preventivi water taxi in advance - a private taxi for six of us and the service was immaculate. There was a little bit of a step up down into the boat but the 'driver' was incredibly helpful and patient with us and our luggage (of which there was a lot). All the staff that I came into contact with, both via email and at the office at the airport, spoke perfect English and were very communicative and responsive. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I would suggest emailing them directly with your enquiry. Here's their email address (the one I used for a few queries and had very prompt replies from) preventivi at venicewatertaxi. After the dot put IT. (Not allowed to put email addresses into the text! Good luck! And have a wonderful trip! Lori

Concerned about the price of water taxis from airport to hotel. Though I’ve heard that you can purchase cheaper tickets than advertised. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

We booked the water Taxi at the airport for €140 and worth every euro!!
Direct to the hotel which was an amazing experience. Felt like James Bond !!
Having done this we did not need to go on a Gondola (€85) as the water Taxi which is beautiful went down the canals.

New Question. I'm traveling by car from Quebec City to North Con Way New Hampshire. It is 5 1/2 hours. Should I stop in Sherbrooke to break up the trip or do you suggest someplace else. This is during October leaf peeping season.
