Just back from our fourth visit to Curacao and as expected, we again enjoyed reliably excellent service from everyone at Go West Diving. From the online bookings to settling the bill, it remains true that the service is excellent. From the last minute availability of quality equipment rentals, the personalized service of a scuba refresher course for an added member of our holiday party, the dive shop, the boat and dive staff are all world class. These folks are happy to "go overboard" to make some of the very best Caribbean diving easily available to even beginner divers. It doesn't hurt that their location on the north end of the island, while remote from the main tourist areas by Williamstad, is a short trip to the island's best diving. With an entire world to explore, we do not generally search for repeats of previous trips. Go West Diving in Westpunt Curacao has been the exception for us, and we are already looking forward to our next trip.

What a cast of characters ā¦
I wonāt get all the names, but does not mean they are any less important to the experience, but there are some standouts.
Tina in the shop is your āgo toā resource to ensure bookings and the ābusinessā end of the diving all go smoothly. She has this shop running exceptionally well and you can (and should) have all you dive information provided well in advance- makes the whole experience so much easier. Glad we booked our dives in advance. The boat was "full" but never crowded.
The boat ā we experienced 2 captains. Both are great and share information of the Island and the water freely and with a unique style. One is completely mad (in a good way) and has more energy than just about anyone I know. You have to experience this for yourself, it just cannot be described in a brief note.
Our divemasterās / instructors were Sue , Tim and JR.
All of them were focused on safety while ensuring we all had fun. An appropriate amount of time is spent on all aspects of water and boat safety- while done with humour ā its serious business and they all command your attention. Its never fun if something bad happens. Before anyone gets on the boat, I noticed an additional check on each tank and lots of additional air.
Before leaving the dock, a full gear check is done for each diver. Now here is the better part. We had an issue with one of our regs at the end of the first dive ā¦ no issue, JR to the rescue and had it fixed before our second dive. So even if something does happen, then can likely fix it on board.
Before each diver got in the water, one of the dive masters did their own ābuddy checkā , even though we had already done them. They also inspect each divers setup before gearing up.
We were all advanced divers, and one is a rescue diver. Always good to have another set of eyes. I really appreciated the conversations we had on equipment, setup and tips on areas for improvement for a better dive experience. Always willing to learn and they all delivered knowledge in their own special way.
I think most importantly, they are all really fun to dive with and share their passion, joy and knowledge of the sport and the dives sites. This was a great experience for our family ā many thanks for great shore and boat dives.
Highly recommend this diving shop. Looking forward to our next trip and we will likely stay at one of your properties right on site.
May thanks for an exceptional dive experience!

We did two days of boat diving with GWD and we had a great time on both occasions. We saw Paradise, Watamula, Rediho and Elvin's Plane Wreck and there was an abundance of wildlife at all of them. The equipment was functional, the guides were thorough and the ship's captain was.... very entertaining.

We had heard about the mushroom forest dive and traveled an hour to get to it
The crew was very accommodating and changed our site location slightly. Nobody on board had an issue with it. So we set out really excited to check out the mushroom forest. It was a wonderful dive site.
Unfortunately we happened to have somebody who may have been a novice dive master. The dive was not a pleasant experience. I had a problem with a leaky BCD. This couldāve been corrected early on if I had an dive master who was attentive to the group. Maybe the group was too big. That said safety should be a priority which I felt was lacking
The cherry on the top was the whole group was up and waiting for all of 20 maybe 30 minutes. The captain of the ship did not see the sausage We were told that the slight drizzle was the problem and he did not see that all the divers were up and waiting. I really donāt enjoy being lectured about global warming weāre destroying the planet and everything is going to come to an end when Iām trying to enjoy my vacation.
I have no doubt that our dive master with her love and passion for scuba diving and preserving the reef will take her far and I wish her all the best in the world, God bless

All of it!
We stayed at All West Apartments and dived with Go West Diving. We love the Westpunt area. It is very rural, and very quiet.
If you like:
1) A quiet experience away from the hustle of a giant resort
2) Shore diving and boat diving
3) A parking spot right in front of your door
4) The Caribbean sea out your back door
5) A full kitchen
6) A super fun dive boat crew
7) One way diving even though you are not diving in currents
8) A four door pick-up truck waiting for you at your apartment
9) Beautiful shore diving off your back porch
10) A tank room full of tanks
11) A beautiful shore dive at Go West where your gear is stored in their gear locker (or you can store your gear in the locked and surveilled tank room at All West)
12) Helpful staff like Roxy, Lewis, Royce, Julie, and of course, Tuki (the one and only Tuki)
13) good restaurants right there in Westpunt.
14) We love Centrum supermarket. A slice of the Netherlands!?!
We were on Curacao June 2021. We did have some paperwork issues and testing requirements because of C-19. It all turned out to be really easy once we understood the program.
I am a little leery about posting this review, because I am worried about All West and Go West becoming inundated with guests. I want my All West apartment "E" to be available whenever we want it. But that isn't reasonable, is it.
cheers,
markm

Before deciding which dive shop to use we searched where we wanted to dive and then chose the dive company closest to the the dive sites. Go West Diving told us the boat rides would be short ā 15 minutes most. After we left the dock the crew asked if we minded changing destinations. We asked how far and they said maybe 50 or 60 minutes. We told the crew that was too far of boat ride. The crew told us one of the other customers wanted to change locations. We told the crew that was too far and we wanted to go to the site we agreed to before leaving the dock. The crew said they were going to the far destination anyway, without regard to the advertised destination or our concern with the long boat ride. (There were three people in our groupā I donāt know how many others wanted to change dive sites.) We did the dive where the boat stopped but it was just okay diving ā not worth the long boat ride. High jacked.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review, we are sorry you feel you were hijacked.
However, there are a couple of things that has to be clarify.
First, our boat rides are to a maximum of fifty minutes, not fifteen. May have been a misinterpretation when you received the information.
Second, our schedule hasn't changed the day you were on the boat. Please refer to our website https://www.gowestdiving.com/boat-diving/#1529956858410-ee2eca23-7489 for the entire boat schedule. On Thursday we are going to Black Coral Garden and Watamula, the dive sites didnāt change on that day.
However, regarding to your request, we asked if there were people okay with switching dive sites. Unfortunately, that's not always possible. On the Thursday in question, we had people on the boat who registered specifically for Black Coral Garden.
Have a nice day.

We had a fantastic experience boat diving with Go West! From the check in process to the boat ride to the two dives. Our divemaster was fantastic and when we hit very fast current on the first dive, he changed things up for the second dive so we could take our time. We hope to dive with them again before leaving this island paradise!

GO WEST Diving in Westpunt, Curacao has the best boat diving in Curacao. The reefs in this part of the island are just more colorful and abundant. GO WEST is super-chill without a lot of trappings. The rental shop is relatively small but the gear is in excellent condition. Prices are very reasonable. If you are lucky, your boat captain will be Tuki, a Hemingway-esque character if there ever was one. We arranged two guided boat dives through Dive Curacao and they were terrific. Robert, our guide was relaxed and unobtrusive. He took us to Rediho and then Elvinās Wreck (a sunk single engine airplane). Both dives were filled with iridescent sponges, huge coral and tons of fish. The visibility was spectacular. Even at 100 feet, the sun penetrated and illuminated the coral. I recommend that you dive with GO WEST. You wonāt be disappointed.

Everything was great! Did 8 boat dives and 2 shoredives in 4 days. All the dives were sublime. I even extended my stay to be able to dive an extra day. The divemasters Morgane and Sue are great. Clear instructions and they take a lot of time to give everyone the necessary explanation and think along with the individual diver to improve their level. I am a certified advanced diver and after these days I became a much better diver. They really know what they are doing and show a lot of things underwater that I would have missed otherwise. Their knowledge of marine life is impressive. Location couldn't be better. A beautiful reef in front and boat dives on the most beautiful spots of CuraƧao just around the corner. On my next visit I will definitely dive here again. This has made my visit to CuraƧao! Thank you Go West Diving!

I did my advanced open water diver cert with Giovanni and four more rec dives with Go West. A great -place to dive. Ask when Sue leads dives if you want to learn about what fish you will see. Great value for the boat rides but you can also see a lot from shore dives. Iād go back.

Do you do take cruise ship guests on a two tank dive and provide transportation to and from the ship? I would love to dive with you in February if so. I am already certified. What would the cost be for a two tank dive? Thanks You!

Hi there Dawn!
We would love to have you onboard for a 2-tank boat dive with us. However, these trips depart at 08.30 in the morning with a meeting time 30 minutes prior, therefore it typically is difficult to combine with Cruise Ship guests. We do offer single afternoon boat dives and guided shore dives that do fit the schedule. We are not providing transportation, but always happy to help and bring you in touch with services that do. As of 2024, the 2-tank boat dive cost 120$, a 1-tank boat dive costs 72$ with tanks and weights included.
Although our response may have been a little too late for you this time, we do hope for it to be of use to future divers!

Few questions. Thank you for your review. Party of three going to KuraHuland Lodge and diving with Go West Diving. Also want to tour island and do shore diving as we have done on Bonaire. We need a Rental Car (TRUCK really). I want to get this done online now to make sure we have a small pick up. Rental websites show very few trucks Budget has one $619 which is crazy. What did you do?
Any other suggestions would be so appreciated diver to diver. Diane
Written January 18, 2016
We rented a car from D&D Rentals. I'm not sure if they have trucks, but they were awesome and the price was around $300 for the week. That included insurance and a GPS. I arranged it all through email. They picked us up and dropped us off at the airport.

When does your 2-tank dive take off in the AM? We will need to connect up with the downtown location and shuttle up. Is there a shuttle available at the end of the day for the return? Is the Blue Cave a standard stop along with Mushroom Forest? Thanks much!! Sincerely

Hello TravelBug, our bat leaves at 8.30 and be in the diveshop at 8 for the paper work etc. Unfortunate we do not have a shuttle available to bring you back to town. The best is to rent a car or get a taxi. We can ad in the cave at Mushroom Forest, but sometimes it is difficult to go there. We hope to see you at our shop.

The map shows the dive shop way up in the north of the island and the resort of Kura Hurlanda near the main city. Is this accurate??

Hello Does on Toronto, we are based at the west point of the island at Kura Hulanda Lodge, not at Kura Hulanda down town. we are close by all the the best dive sites from Curacao like Watamula, Mushroom Forrest and many more great divesites Our house reef, Alice in Wonderland, is one of the best shoredives you can find in Curaao. The hotel does provide a shuttle service between the 2 resorts. It is about a 45 minute drive from the Kura Hulanda in town to the Kura Hulanda lodge.
