TURTLES!
Jun 2021 • Couples
Excellent beach with amenities. Clear water with lots of turtles right at the pier. Colorful fish along the rocky sides of bay.

Good snorkeling
Jan 2020
This beach is for spending a bit of time, not all day, it is a fishermen's beach, so it is very good snorkeling, you can see many fish and turtles

Nice fishing port and beach
Mar 2020 • Couples
Busy beach due to all the turtles. Good snorkeling and scuba diving. Watch the fishermen clean their catch. Lots of fish around and nice reef.

Tourist attraction
Feb 2020
This village beach has become a tourist attraction because of the turtles which are attracted by the fisherman throwing their gutted remants off the pier, if you park on the top of the cliff by the dive centre and walk down the steps you can avoid all the fishing huts and tight parking at the pierhead. We did not find the location dirty or smelly, the sea was clear and there seemed to be at least 5 full grown turtles and some smaller coming in to feed, they ignore people. If you swim out further you can see Neptune on the sea bed before the drop off. Beach gets very busy for an hour in the late afternoon when cruise ship tours arrive, issue yelliow snorkels, very basic instructions and most of the tourists manage to miss the very obvious turtles , they soon go. Chairs available, limited snacks, take your own.

Sketch

Went to see the turtles. Fun to see them but it's like a circus. My swimsuit smelled like the fish they threw in to feed the fish. Can see the turtles from the peer. Sketchy guy in the parking lot asking for money. Weird vibe. Poor turtles.

You will get to swim with turtles!
Mar 2020
The beach is OK. I mean if it were in the states it would be amazing. But for Curacao its just a nice beach and there are better. BUT who cares about that. At this beach you get to swim with turtles. My daughter and I saw at least 15. They were everywhere. What gentle amazing creatures. There are locals there who feed them and take your picture with them (Im sure there is a gratuity expected). Just a fantastic experience. Definitely go here. Did I mention you get to swim with turtles?

Fantastic snorkeling

If you want to almost guarantee yourself the opportunity to swim with turtles, make a visit to Playa Piscado. Crowds with gather around 10 am so get there early to enjoy easy parking and the opportunity to swim and snorkel with the turtles before the crowds stir up the water and make things murky. Keep an eye out for fishing boats and bring $3 USD if you plan on parking your car. The road to the beach can easily be missed so watch for the red octopus tree (you'll know it when you see it) and turn there. Also swim out about 50 meters to enjoy some nice tube coral and larger fish and to the cliffs on the right for more coral and schools of smaller fish. Great place for those who are not strong swimmers or first time snorkelers.

Get facts straight
Mar 2020 • Couples
This location historically and presently is were fishermen bring in there catch as well as clean their fish and through the heads etc in the ocean and the turtles come and eat and sleep.
I'm a diver and have been coming between bonaire and CURACAO for many years and know many locals. The last time 2 yrs ago one of the locals took my husband and I diving this spot and it was wonderful and yes at the end of the dive the fishermen had thrown fish remains and we got to see the turtles from a distance. As divers you are there to observe not to harass these beautiful creatures.
We came back once again to this lovely island(we all are guests) and once again went out on the reef. In returning from our dive this year I was appalled to see the multitude of snorkelers chasing the turtles, diving under to grab etc. I witnessed one person diving down to chase a turrtle and I shook my rattle to get his attention and wave him off. In return I got the finger. All I can say he is lucky he didn't dive down again because as a diver I would have grabbed him.
These are majestic creatures not to be chased and harrassed. If you want to see float and look they may come to you.
From people like these aggressive snorkelers there was a large turtle who got aggressive and started biting people and now I know why.
The fishermen telling you to move away I don't blame him.
Remember this is there environment you are a guest and from what I saw very bad ones.
So get your facts straight, this was never a beach for tourists.

Not quite as promoted
Feb 2020
Maybe fishermen used to have scraps that lured sea turtles, but now there's just a guy chumming the water to bring them in for tourists. While it was fun to swim with the turtles, it felt a little unethical and unnatural. There's nothing else to rate this beach any higher than several other nicer beaches on Curacao.
