My first time in Puerto Rico & Casa Bacardí. We purchased the Rum Tasting tix online, one month in advance. From San Juan, we had to take taxi because the ferry was not functioning out of San Juan. Upon arrival, we took pics of a mural. We got in line, they scanned our tix and prior to the tour, we bought drinks! With the "bat" coins, we purchased a mixed drink of our liking and came home with plastic 8 oz. Bacardí glass. They have a snack bar where we purchase the best beef "empanadas" (estaban muy rico). We sat under the Bat pavillion, sipping on drinks, catching the brezze, even played with hoolahoops! We did the 2pm tour, starting on a trolly with the most energetic tour guide, Alondra. She educated us on the Bacardí family history, the swirling of the glass and look for the "tears". We didn't tour any of the distilleries though, we did the Rum Tasting class (room). With four glasses waiting for us! Alondra, her charismatic energy with her Reggeaton music in cell phone on hand, had us taste Añejo Cuatro, Reserva Ocho, Gran Reserva Diez, and Special one. Educated us on the bottles and history behind them. She had us all engaged, individually.. and it was quite entertaining! The chocolate at the end with the last sip of rum was tastey. This is straight rum, so prepare for the alcohol. Afterwards, they lead us to the gift shop to purchase merchandise and souvenirs. It was a fun 1 hr and 1/2 tour. If you sign up, hope you get Alonda and her spunky energy!

Super! This is fantastic. We also love our beef empanadas. If i may , allow me to recommend the Pionono stuffed empanda for your next visit. I promise you won't regret. Thanks for this great review. Our Casa will always be your Casa.

If you like rum and have some time, head over to the Bacardi factory tour. Getting there can be confusing. Here's what we learned as we went. To get there from Old San Juan, you must go to Pier 2 and buy a ferry ticket. Buy your ferry ticket there and back at the same time-it's easier that way. The ferry was cheap. I can't remember the cost but I think it was like 50 cents or a dollar per person. Once the ferry docks, this will be the tricky part. Bacardi is not in walking distance. You need to take a taxi. To get one, exit the building and head to the gray parking garage down the walkway on the right. Inside the parking garage that is down the sidewalk to your right, you will find men waiting to take you buy taxi van to the tour. It is $3 per person for the taxi ride if you wait for there to be at least 4 people riding. It usually doesn't take long for others to arrive. Once you get to Bacardi, they have several tour options ranging in price. We did the basic tour which gave info about how Bacardi started, the types of rum they make and you got one rum drink in a souvenir glass. When you leave the tour, exit into the parking lot and stay to your right. Down the walkway you will see a taxi station. Wait for there to be at least 4 people total, and you'll pay $3 per person again to be brought back to the parking garage. Then take the ferry back.

I was on the last tour of the day (4:30pm) and it was so entertaining. Our guide and host was incredibly animated, happy, fun to listen to and really engaged the crowd. The class set up was pristine, all ingredients were visibly fresh. I was a solo traveler and our host encouraged mingling and lightening the mood. Someone dropped their spoon and our host called on his walkie for a replacement and it came right away. Very organized team; I hope Bacardi is giving them just / fair wages because they were all amazing! Learning the history of the company, I now have a new respect for the brand and its process. I have always been a loyal customer but now I can actually represent the brand with some knowledge as well. I purchased a bottle of their Special Reserve Hand Bottled Rum and look forward in sipping it until my next visit. THANK YOU!!

First off, to get there head to pier 2 in old San Juan. Take the ferry, it’s about $1.00 per person for the ferry and it’s just fun to do it. Get there at least 20 mins before the ferry leaves (on the hour to go from SJ there, and on the half hour to come back)

Once you get off the ferry, you can grab a cab to the Bacardi Factory

The tour sells out WAY in advance. So make sure if your going to book… you book early!

Oh, and apparently it was more fun pre-Covid. But it’s honestly a waste of time to go now.

The sign in gives you a token for a drink, extra drinks cost the same amount for a small drink as it is to buy an entire bottle of Rum in the gift shop. Seriously.

Next the tour takes you on a tram to a single room with a mural in the wall. That’s it.
That’s the whole damn tour now.

After that we went to a private room for a tasting. You get 4 x 1/2oz pours of aged rum.

That’s it. Tour over gift shop.

IMHO: skip the bogus “tour” and just goto the place. Get a drink cash. Wander around take your photos. Hit the gift shop. Leave.

We wasted half a day doing this from SJ pier2 and back again. It honestly wasn’t worth half the day, the cost or well any of it.

While our guide was nice, she kept trying to fill dead air spaces with useless games because the actual “tour” was 10 mins in the mural room, and 15 mins run tasting. So it’s a 25min “tour” to taste runs you could simply buy and do it yourself from the gift shop or your local liquor store and save a crap load of money.

I was very excited for this too. I am a spirits enthusiast; and yes I did purchase the “special aged rum you can ONLY buy at the House of Bacardi” and even more pleased I got it etched and engraved there for no extra charge. But honestly of you aren’t going to buy a $160 bottle of rum, it’s a hard pass of your on limited time.

We signed up from Casa Bacardi Bar visit. With this visit they were to provide 1 drink and 1 empanada. I wanted to sign up for the tour but they were sold out weeks in advance.

We received a confirmation email from Bacardi that day telling us that they were excited for our visit. We Ubered over to the Bacardi factory( 17 km from old san juan.) We get there and were told to leave as our experience was canceled. They said they left everyone a voicemail ( which we never received) I showed them their email confirmation from just a few hours before our arrival. I asked if we could just purchase drink and we were told that we could not do that. I asked if we could join the tour that was happening but they said no ( even tho there were extra spots) I asked to speak with the manager. He came and gave us free drink tickets but we were only aloud to choose from 3 drinks ( they had 9 drinks) and we were not aloud to upgrade. It made no sense. There was nothing to do besides drink our drink and leave. of coarse we were aloud to go to their gift shop. My husband bought a hat that was marked $7. It rang up as $10 and the cashier tried to tell me that extra was due to the tax. When I told her there was no way the tax was $3 on a $7 purchase, she said she could not adjust the price.

Overall, I do not recommend this unless you can make sure to get a tour. Not a great experience for us. I will never purchase bacardi again.

The only reason for 4 stars is because of the poor communication. There was a glitch in the system so the time that we received for the tour was incorrect. I tried emailing which was the preferred method, calling several times, fb messaging and even sent in a request via their website without any response. We showed up on the day of and the definitely redeemed themselves. The young lady expressed her apologies for everything and was able to fit us in to the mixology tour instead of the rum tasting which we were originally booked for. She did allow us to choose. I originally wanted the mixology tour but was saddened because it was totally booked when I originally booked. The tours was great. Gary was a great guide who also had a lot of patience. Definitely will recommend but hoping they fix the communication concerns.

Our tour guide Jojo made this tour a total experience! Without Jojo, it simply would’ve been another “tour”. Her enthusiasm about Bacardi’s history and transition into the future was exciting. She provided information and a fun time, especially during the rum tasting!!! I was shocked to learn that Bacardi runs a 70% sustainable facility. I’m a rum drinker though not a sipper but learned about the techniques and features of the drink. I highly recommend the rum tasting tour AND hope you’re lucky enough to get Jojo as your tour guide 🇵🇷

I was visiting the island with a friend and he asked me about Casa Bacardi. I mentioned to him that I had gone there over 30 years ago, but I had very good memories of seeing how rum was made and bottled and getting my complimentary Pina Colada. We decided to go!
At the gate (around 12:15, Mon 3/21/2022) I was told I needed a a confirmation number. I checked the website and signed up for the Bacardi Bar Experience Tour. This included the tour and a complimentary drink. The tour was supposed to start at 1 pm. When we arrived at the pavilion I was directed to the ticket counter to receive my two "doubloons" that I would use for my drinks at the bar! The host immediately said that if we upgraded by paying $4 extra each, we could get any drink on their menu card, to include the Reserve products, a beef empanadilla and we could keep the cups as gifts. My buddy paid the extra $8. We each had an outstanding pina colada and beef empanadilla.
When 1 pm came around I went to the ticket booth to ask where to meet the guide, I was told there was no guide. Hanging out at the Pavilion bar was the tour...yes, the Bacardi Bar Experience!
So basically, my buddy and I paid $48 for two pina coladas, two acrylic cups with the Bacardi logo (possibly made in China) and two so-so empanadillas!
A better Bacardi Bar Experience Tour is to head on over to The Parrot of Old San Juan Bar, on Fortaleza Street (by Plaza de Colon) during Happy Hour and get $5 Pina Coladas made with Bacardi and a much friendlier crowd!

Thank you for your feed back! Our apologies for any misunderstanding but the BACARDÍ BAR VISIT, as mentioned in its very own name, is a BAR VISIT and not a tour. Next time you visit, I suggest you take our Mixology Class (tour) , Rum Tasting (tour) or our Legacy tour.

Paid for a Mixology Class.

There’s no tour of the distillery. They just drive you around in the open and take you to a room with a bunch of murals on walls that the tour guide goes over “history of the company and the family”. Can be better done online.

Mixology class - teach you how to make a Mojito and a Pina colada. Nothing great - can learn better online.

By the end of the tour you end up having 4 small drinks - for a cost of $75 per person and not to mention taxi ride to this far flung location. For that much one can have a nice meal and drinks in a decent restaurant in San Juan.

A COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE RIPOFF!!!

For the World Class Bacardi Distillery this should be a free tour and not a means of making money off of their loyal customers

I am sorry that the tour was disappointing for you. Most visitors find our property beautiful, and the tour educational and fun. We offer the Legacy Tour for $30, and it includes a cocktail at our waterfront Bat Bar Pavilion, and then a guided tour to explore the history of BACARDÍ rum. We also have more experiences available: the Mixology Class and the Rum Tasting tour. If you give us the opportunity another time, you should take one of the other tours. I'm sure you'll love them. Salud!

Four of us joined the Mixology Class on 04/28 which included an intro to the Casa Bacardi history and a rum tasting. Making the drinks (and drinking them!) was a lot fun thanks to Alondra who guided us and kept us moving with some salsa dancing at the same time. Her energy is very contagious and she definitely took the experience to another level. I recommend the Mixology Class 100% (and hopefully, you get Alondra as your guide!)
