This place lies 100+ km away from Hyderabad. Public transport would be difficult so getting a private car really is the only option.
The fort itself is reportedly 42km in circumference though not fully intact all the way around. If you arrive at the main point of entry you can climb up each side for good views.
It's can be dry & hot so take food, water and sun protection!

I wonder why this fort is so popular with visitors. Apart from its size, there is almost nothing to see inside. The architecture is boring and predictable. All parts of the fort have been badly restored or are utterly empty. I wasted 3 hours going there and back.

We four friends spent a day in Ranikot fort also called the great wall of Sindh.
We hiked on one side of the wall from the Sunn gate for more than 2 hours. As we hiked farther than Sunn gate the stairs became uneven and at places one stair equivalent to three, and at places one has to find a diversion to bypass an unassailable part of the broken track.
No food or tea available near the wall and one can only find a tea stall 7km farther away on Miri kot.

I have visited castles and fortresses all over the world, but this one is an absolute gem ! Built out of millions of baked bricks it goes on for some 18 kilometers and features dozens of bastions. There is probably lots more to explore, but I doubt the funds will be available to do so, let alone preserve this magnificent structure for future generations. This should be a major tourist attraction !

I along with my and bros family visited Rnikot Fort. Let me tell all readers that winter is the best and recommended time to visit this amazing place. I can bet u won't regret except the road leading towards it and the Mirikot. I travelled on my new civic and experience was awesome. If u have SUV then no worries. There is a must visit place known as Pari jo tar where u can get ur feet pedicured with little fishes around when u dip ur feet into pond. Amazing experience. There u can have night stay to trek around nearby place including Shergarh castle and other places. It is 270 km from Karachi and road is excellent but as mentioned earlier. Night stay is recommended but in winters only. There are limited guest rooms with 2500/ Rs per head charges. Teens might not enjoy as it is sight seeing place with adventure.

After being detained by the police and having time delayed, we rushed to the site only to find it closed- after explaining to the gatekeeper about our love for forts and history, he kindly let us in- we paid of course...so we were the only ones inside the fort.....wonderful place and great structures- amazing with great villages surrounding it.
Not a lot of information except for one information board- food stand available and toilet on site- huge place and only if we have longer time to explore the site. Some places within the fort have been left in pieces- much attention needed to preserve it for future generations to see. Huge gate outside to guard the fort and throughout its history, it has never been invaded ( kind of the point for a Fort right?)- very friendly locals outside the fort area. Remote location so get driver.

We went there in Nov 2014. Its approximately 250km from Karachi. Ranikot Fort is also known as The Great Wall of Sindh and is believed to be the world's largest fort with a circumference of approximately 26 kilometres. . Long winding wall is just like the great wall of China. Amazing historical site to see

Rani Kot Fort is in the middle of nowhere in Dadu District, Sindh, Pakistan. It is THE largest fort on the world and boasts the great wall of Sindh which is 26 Kilometers long. The mountains that the wall is built on are as high as 200 feet at some points. No one has yet been able to find out exactly when was this built and what were they defending in the middle of nowhere,
Miri Kot Fort is inside Rani Kot Fort. We went for a weekend trip from Karachi. Visited the wall first and then set up camp at Miri Kot Fort. The trip was organised by Hammad of Josh Tours.
There were 16 of us. Had lunch on the way at Jamshoro. Then had BBQ dinner at Miri Kot. Facilities were basic but the best one expects in the middle of nowhere. We slept in tents in sleeping bags. Both items were arranged by the organiser. It went very chilly at night and the wind was howling so be prepared.
In the morning we had local breakfast (spicy scrambled eggs with parathas) and then went on a trek to see Pariyon Jo Tarr (Pond of Fairies) which is a spring about 4.6 km from Miri Kot Fort. It is not an easy trek as you have to first trek down 200 meters into the valley and also have to go back up.

My question is with the curators of the fort and the Government of Pakistan and Sindh and I expect them that someone will read it and answer me.
Why does this fort not properly marketed for the tourism for local and international tourists? This is such a staggering building if would have been anywhere else in the world would have brought a lot of revenue to the locals. Promote the tourism in Sindh through this humongous marvel of architecture. Make proper roads and bridges, open restaurants and hotels in its vicinity. Open a bookshop and museum and film theater in the vicinity so people would know about it. This fort may open jobs for several hundred young men and women of the area who can change the economics of the Dadu district. Thanks
