We had a group of 4. Two in their 30s, one in their 40s, and one in their 70s. We were hesitant about doing the advanced trek but we decided to go for it. Our guide was Micah who was amazing. Took us to some really neat features and even tried to give us a taste of everything the glacier had to offer from rappelling, to climbing, to moulins, to crevasses, etc. I would recommend this tour to almost anyone. This was my favorite part of Alaska.

The hike of the matanushka glacier was simply fantastic. The tour guides warren and wess were very knowledgeable and made the hike very lively and fun. We were able to see glacier caves, glacier ponds and even drink glacier water. I would highly recommend this tour with mica guides. Great job mica guides.

100% worth the trip. Professional guides, amazing views. Our group was mixed ages, 8 - 55, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

We had an extra day in Anchorage and wanted to explore something unusual in the outdoors. Spending time on a glacier seemed like a good idea. We wanted to actually get on the glacier, not simply observe from a viewing platform. The dangers of a glacier and our total lack of experience implied a guided trek was appropriate. MICA guides' advanced trek on the Matanuska Glacier seemed like a good choice. We arrived 45 minutes before the published 10AM start. That was a good choice as there was plenty of prep activity. It also meant that we were on our way just minutes after 10AM which yielded more time on the glacier. After a short ride in a van [where everyone wore face masks] our party of 4 guests and lead guide Warren and assistant guide Lindsey arrived at the trail head. We proceeded to walk about 2 miles [and nearly 1000 vertical] along the rugged and uneven lateral moraine to a place where we could cross on to the ice. Once on the ice we explored and played for 3-4 hours: small blue lagoons, narrow canyons, caves, crevasses, crampon assisted ascents and descents, and more. Then it was back to the moraine and down to the van. Lead guide Warren put safety first and we never experienced a single anxious moment. He was also very knowledgeable about glaciers and glacial ecosystems. We learned a great deal.

This was the most unforgettable trip. You cannot come to Alaska and not go on this glacier trek. We did the advanced trek and it was worth every penny. Shout out to our guides Warren and Baxter who brought the highest energy and made the 3 mile hike in feel like it was ten minutes. Everything they did make our trip better. Highly recommend this tour!!
