Not far from Royan, about 18Km south on the coast road are the marvelous caves from the troglodites. Not expensive to enter, but a must see especially on a bright and dry day. The views over the bay are wonderful.
interesting site providing an historical perspective I wasn't aware of about the region. Good value for money offering plenty of great photo opportunities. No English tours when were were there (Sept), but this wasn't really a problem.
