About Rota do Enxaimel
The largest concentration outside Germany of houses built using the half-timber technique ("Fachwerk" in German), brought by German immigrants. There are about 50 houses along 10 miles, on a route listed as a landscape heritage site by IPHAN. In the half-timbered technique, wooden structures are built without any nails or screws, just with fittings and wooden pegs. Enjoy the beautiful landscape, get to know how immigrants used to live, try typical German dishes and buy locally produced products. It is also possible to stay in a historic half-timbered house!

the museum house is small, but worth a visit as there are original furnitures from the colonial times.

This road where you can find many typical rural German houses, drives you to the beginning of the last century. The people who live there, are friendly and often, open their houses to visitors. It could be better signalized.

Its an old road with about 16 km. There are no signs and no particular place to visit. It is basically a road "trip" to see some old houses with enxaimel style. The problem is that there isnothing to do: no explanations, no totens or signs, no restaurants or parks. It could be more "tourist related". Dont think you will find hundreds of.enxaimel houses. And dont think that is the same as travelling in the interior of an "old germany". There are around a dozen of these old fashion houses and thats it. Of course that if you are in town, go take a look. It will take around 20 minutes.
