Pleased that the busses full of tourists don’t quite make it this far. It’s worth the climb. The church is really interesting and very old. The views from the top are superb. The stairs are hard work but the restoration works have ensured that they are safe and in good condition.

You can drive up and walk the last meters. Nicely renovated with a beautiful view over Nemea and some wineries. Light a candle in the chapel.

Just rennovated, a beautiful historical and religious monument for mankind. Situated at the entrance of Nemea, it will give you the chance to enjoy a breathtaking view of the valley. Its a unique view for all seasons. The path to the little church will be tricky, my legs hurt afterwards. But the whole familly went up, even granny, so if you have time and patience, its worth it.

There are two nearby sites that I am not sure which one is represented here on the site as "Monastery of the Dormition Rock Nemea". In any case, the trip to both is spectacular and impressive. The mountain range in front of the monasteries is stunning in its strength, and the climb in the monastery built inside the mountain is easy and pleasant as a unique family trip.

A Panagia there on the "Polyfengos" rock has been waiting for us to visit her for years. Where Daniel Pampoukis was abbot for 46 years, where he also acted as a Friend in the National Palingesia, where he met Nikiforos and Charalambos Pampoukis and kept their important assets in the monastery premises, where the active hieromonk called Vounakiotes, Agios -Barbarians and Chalcians to stay in the fertile plain of the Nemean land.
From up there, the story seems less distant and the pages of the books acquire ...experienced meaning.

about 10 minutes by car from the archaeological site of Nemea. Visible from a distance and has a large parking area. The monastery is not accessible for disabled people as the steps to get there are quite steep and uphill. the Monastery is built inside the rock in good condition with unique frescoes of great historical value. If you are in the area it is worth seeing.
