English guy, without a car, staying in Pointe-a-Pitre, trying to organise a hike to La Soufriere volcano? Was told by PaP tourist office & another guide that it was impossible. But decided would take local transport just to at least see the volcano. So, 0555 express bus from PaP, local bus to St Claude, started walking the 5km to the normal start point, Les Bains Jaunes, hoping to hitch a lift. (St Claude tourist office not open until 0830). Shortly after I came on Vert Intense. And they were more than happy to let me join an 0830 arranged tour with 6 French people for €40, led by ‘Daddy’. And he was fantastic. Incredibly fit, walked barefoot and took time out to explain everything to me in english. Gas masks were provided so that we could go into the areas where the many ‘day trippers’ could not, and that was great as being so close to the smoking vents felt very special. He even offered to drive me down to Basse Terre bus station afterwards, but he still had plenty to do/ gas masks to clean, so left him to it. So overall, highly recommend. Merci beaucoup ‘Daddy’! 👍😁

We are a couple in our mid sixties and we decided to do the volcano hike while in the area. Our guide was Kevin and he was everything a guide should be - knowledgeable, friendly, considerate and cheerful. We don’t speak much French but he managed to explain things in both English and French without inconveniencing either group. The hike itself is difficult - the path for the most part made up of large rocks but despite being wet they aren’t particularly slippery. We are in good shape but it was still a struggle for me more so than my husband. It was worth the effort tho when we finally reached the top. I almost quit part way but Kevin encouraged me and convinced me to go on and I’m glad he did. You won’t regret doing this hike as you will see a landscape at the top that is unique and somewhat surreal. This company went above and beyond in customer service, even arranging rides for us to and from their office as we had no vehicle - I would give them more than five stars if I could.
