Mystical and fascinating place. Beyond the internal peace it transmits, it is also a place where you can breathe the history of lower Lazio. The cloister is beautiful. A must visit is the religious art gallery with interesting works on canvas and various inks.

The former founded it in the 8th century, the latter rebuilt it in the 13th century. Later it passed to the Cistercians, to whom we owe the austerity of the interior of the church. Large and surrounded by a beautiful landscape, it is now inhabited by a small community of monks. Nice cloister. There is a small shop run by monks.

Doesn't take long to visit. Great panoramic view outside, pretty church and fabulous cloisters.
Great place to take in ahead of visiting Sermoneta or on your way out.
Loads of parking in the shade and no entrance fee just some boxes for donations.

We were the only visitors there for most of the visit.I was interested in the books in the small museum. The custodian was extremely helpful and enthusiastic and I ended up buying quite a few.The Cloisters are beautiful.Unspoiled and atmospheric..
The abbey church is open to visitors and it's austere beauty is worth seeing. No refreshments for miles and we did not see a loo.

This little Cistercian Abbey is charming. Its lack of ornamentation gives it a very peaceful air. The "restoration" of the floor is an absolute disgrace. The cloister is quite beautiful as well.

You can easily combine seeing this with the Giardino di Ninfa and Castello Caetani in Sermoneta - just be aware of the different opening times! We arrived just as the evening service was starting so encountered quite a number of Italians making a last minute dash inside the church, which we therefore don't see fully. You are able to take a walk round the interior quadrangle of the abbey, enjoy any exhibitions (religious art in our case) that might be in place and a stroll round the front of the buildings. You are not able to see a lot, but the buildings themselves are quite beautiful.

When you arrive, before you enter the beautiful cloister, take in the gorgeous view....It is really peaceful and beautiful..The cloister are quiet, peaceful and interesting. Worth a stop but not too much time is needed.

Worth the visit. The church is a bit dissapointing because of the remodelling and the lack of original frescoes, but the cloister is very interesting and very well preserved. Nice view and easy parking.

The abbey of Valvisciolo is a beautiful example of cistercian abbey on the foot steps of the Lepini mountains, located between the medieval villages of Sermoneta and Norma.
Inside the church you should definitely see the frescoes in the Chapel of San Lorenzo, but the most beautiful thing is the stunning cloister with its beautiful garden.

There are plenty of parking spaces and a small shop.

I highly recommend a visit to this stunning abbey!

For a small donation you will be shown around the chapel and cloisters of this remarkable old edifice.
