This is the 3rd oldest tree in world, having about 4500 years old. It will be a nice experience to visit this tree en your route to Yazd (from Shiraz).
there is also a good cafe near this tree.

This attraction was well presented, we walked all the way round it. A very pleasant spot to break your journey. The previous time our guide had been here there were no services - this time there was a small tea, coffee and cake shop, we had our own drinks but the cakes were very good and large portions.

I had wanted to visit the tree for a long time, and we made it there two weeks ago. It is a grand tree, it is a marvel to see, and to cherish. We were in Abarkooh for 20 hours and went to see it 3 times. It is majestic and thankfully it is protected so you can't go very close. It dwarfs everything and is truly beautiful and thought provoking.

On your way from Shiraz to Yazd, a quick stop in Abarkuh is highly recommended. There you'll find the famous "Cypress of Abarkuh", whose age is estimated between 4000 and 5000 years and may be one of the oldest living trees in the whole world! Its height is about 25m and its perimeter, at the trunk, is around 11,5m. The legend says that Zoroaster, the Iranian prophet and spiritual leader, planted himself the ancient tree. Amazing legends about this Iranian protected national natural monument ... "Coffee Art Gallery" is located right under the shadows of the iconic "Cypress of Abarkuh", serving freshly brewed coffee, home baked cakes and traditional Iranian souvenirs. One last remark: never visit the "Cypress of Abarkuh" after sunset, as you'll see almost nothing. Enjoy!

Sarv-e Abarqu, is a cypress tree in Yazd province, Iran. The tree is estimated to be at least 4,000 years old and, having lived through the dawn of human civilization not far away, it is considered an Iranian national monument. Many have noted that Sarv-e Abarqu is most likely the oldest living thing in Asia

I had heard about this oldest tree in Iran and one of the oldest trees in the world, the magnificent 4000 year old Cypress for many years. I finally got to visit it today and found it as beautiful as I had imagined. While visiting the Cypress, you may wish to have a cup of tea or coffee at the arts cafe run by Masoud.

Driving through the Zagros mountains on your way to Shiraz, you can stop at the village of ABAKUH, and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of cappuccino or expresso for about 150,000 rials or $1.50 US.
The owners Masoudak and Rami are so hospitable that you just might stay 'yes' for another cup of their excellent coffee! Their cafe is located close to the 4500 cypress tree; although the cafe is small, there are some outdoor seats, also.
