We planned to visit the park on September 11th. For about a month now, you have to pay for admission online.

Unfortunately, the man at the gate had no idea how to go about it.

He started googling it, but he was completely at a loss.

After 2 hours, we left the gate again without having visited the park.

It's a real shame....

The parks is worth a thousand words of praises... Few tourists, very wild, reasonable wildlife species, birds for ardent birders like myself, great views and much more. This is Ruma national park where meeting other tourist in the park is next to impossible...

Our visit to Ruma Park was a brilliant experience. To see animals in such a beautiful natural setting was amazing. On our visit we saw antelopes, giraffes, rhinos, baboons, zebras and a host of varieties of birds and butterflies. You need to arrive early to see the most animals. This is not as popular with tourists as the Masai Mara and so it is not over-crowded. It is well worth the visit and the staff were really helpful and informative.

The place is in a very rural place but its worth the trip u can sit down on the balcony watch the sunset and sunrise.you are given access to cooking facilities and a fridge so you can carry your own food and whip up something to eat.The first day the visit to the park is free if you paid for accommodation which is well equipped. If you are lucky u can get to see the rare animals like cheetah, white Rhino.First you have to have a car because i didn't see any local mode of transport.A camera is essential,The staff is equally nice i felt so welcomed twas a short stay but i loved every second of it.

Very basic safari by private vehicle, with Roan antelope, water buffalo, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, eagle, crested crane & little else to see.

It's a National Park so you must have your own car. You must also study the season. Rainy season calls for a four-wheel drive vehicle. The officers are friendly and ready to tell you more.

There are a lot of wild animals to watch and take picture. Then a drive along the lake offers a very magnificent view for nature lover like me. The food are served fresh and the service team are always very friendly.

Next time you are in Western Kenya region, you definitely want to visit this park and get to see the topi antelope as well as other animals. This is the only place in Kenya to see it so it is worth it. Thing is, they are few and very secretive. You will need patience and a good spotter. The journey there is quite long but worth the trip. There is a KWS guest house where you can stay. The sunset vantage point is incredible and you won't want to miss the sunset even if you are on a game drive, it was definitely very striking when I visited. In fact, there is a specific spot near the house where it is best viewed from.
