Run mainly by volunteers, this community shop sells a very wide variety of meat, fruit & veg and lots of household products at reasonable prices. It also does sandwiches and pies etc for lunches.

Such a useful resource! We were surprised to find so much fresh produce too, we were spoilt for choice.
The local pub has closed and we arrived late. We found we could pick up ingredients for a decent dinner and pud too. That meant we didn't have to drive out further afield. Newspapers available too on Sunday morning.

This is what all local shops should be like - a wide variety of well-priced goods and a warm welcome. We look forward to visiting whenever we stay at our caravan on Gallaber Farm.

Very varied and well stocked, very reasonable prices and smiley welcoming staff. What more could you ask for of a local shop.

Pop into Burton-in-Lonsdale and you come across a little gem of a place for lunch. We walked from Low Bentham and popped in for a cup of tea only end up having lunch. The food was freshly cooked from not the biggest menu in the world but very tasty and good whole food. Its manned by volunteers who look after a well stocked village shop as well. Certainly worth a visit if your in the area, its a pity the cafe closes at 2.30 as a tea and scone sounds so good mid afternoon.

We had lunch last week at Cafe 27 which is part of Burton Village Shop, and what a little gem it is. The menu is small, but very tempting with interesting soups, quiches and lots of delicious looking cakes. We went for the Wensleydale scones which came with a small piece of Wensleydale, a dollop of a very good pear chutney and a salad. I have never been that keen on cheese scones but these were wonderful. I could have easily demolished another!
I understand the cafe has limited opening times at the weekend. I recommend they have longer opening times as I think this could be a very good business indeed. It certainly merits it.

Sells a variety of things you could possibly need and also has a Post Office. Friendly welcome and has some locally made things to buy too (we bought some lovely biscuits).

I was surprised to see reviews of a village shop, however after staying in the village on holiday and having visited the shop thought it only fitting that I also leave a review. Nice community run shop with really friendly staff who are happy to help. Great addition of having a Post Office as well. Some local fresh produce and coffee area as well. All essential items catered for.
