Such a great experience for myself and my son. It was a gift given to me for my birthday before covid, and I’m so glad I was able to book once everything has settled.
We both had a fabulous afternoon doing our pottery experience. Lee was an amazing teacher and made us feel very at home, he answered all our questions and made our experience very enjoyable.
I highly recommend this activity to anyone who is thinking of an pottery experience in the future.
We are excited to see our finished pots, and we will definitely be back to do more pottery.

10/10 experience!

Thank you very much Lee.

My granddaughter ( aged 11 yrs) and I had a most satisfying and enjoyable morning being introduced to pottery by Lee at Bentham Pottery. We were both novices and Lee proved to be a very thorough and patient teacher. We felt comfortable and increasingly confident as he encouraged us to improve our efforts. I highly recommend this activity and we are looking forward to seeing our glazed pots in a few weeks time.

We went as a joint birthday present from family. Complete novices but soon made at home by Lee. Educational, informative and practical - a great half day filled with fun, a little competition as to who could produce the best pot and very calming.

Looking forward now to seeing the outcome of our efforts in eight weeks time when they are fired and glazed.

Did a half day beginners course and thought it was fantastic. Lee (and his lovely Mum) are gifted teachers, making it a thoroughly fun learning experience.

I attended a one day pottery course on my own. There were two other lovely women who also took part.
What a treat. Lee and his Mum Cathy were really good at explaining and teaching throwing. The photo shows my attempts.
We then made a moulded bowl.
Can’t wait to pick up my fired and glazed bowls.
Highly recommended. It would be a great present for anyone.

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in beautiful countryside. Lee and Cathy make welcoming and professional teachers. Can’t believe I made 8 pots from never having thrown clay before I’m just a few hours. A great afternoon. I’ll be back. Thank you.

Just back from a great introductory course, Lee the tutor was so helpful and a great teacher. We managed to make some mugs, egg cups and candle holders and his Mum, Kathy is lovely too. Even if you are not able to make it for a workshop, come for the shop - there's some lovely pieces, I bet you'll buy something, we did!

My husband and I (both retired) visited Bentham Pottery on a pre booked workshop day to have a go at creating different shapes and vessels on a potter's wheel. We had no previous experience. Lee, the owner, was great at explaining the different techniques and breaking down the whole process into simpler steps. We practised individual steps and then he let us do the whole process on our own. He was always available to offer advice or some assistance but also left us to it if we were doing ok. Over the course of one day we managed to have a go at making mugs and cylinders, bowls, candlesticks, goblets and hollow eggs. We were really impressed with how much we managed to fit into a day. It was quite intensive but the repetition of some of the basic techniques helped to bed them into our memory! We also put a handle on a mug and had a go at putting a design on it too. At the end of the day we were able to select a few pieces that we would like to have fired and we will collect them in a few weeks time to keep. Lee also offers pottery tuition not using the wheel and this might suit some people more than throwing pots.
My husband has some fingers missing on one hand and he was really pleased that Lee was able to help him adapt some of the techniques to still get some great results.
Major tip - wear old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty! We got seriously messy!! But it was great fun!

A great experience for a complete beginner. 60th birthday present for my husband but really glad I joined in. Lee and his mum Kathy have a wealth of knowledge and expertise, no question was too silly to ask. We were taught with patience and practical explanation which was very easy to follow. you quickly realise there is so much more to it than first thoughts. Lee and his mum were great encouragers and made you feel like you could master the technique. Thanks for a fabulous afternoon.
