Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed The Drum on here before. I’ve been a regular visitor since this Blackfen gem opened. You always get a friendly welcome and you always get a good pint (or more). With an ever changing selection you can never get bored and as well as good real ale there are ciders, soft drinks and small bottles of wine if you prefer. Everybody is welcome and you can sit quietly, play a traditional board game or game of cards or enter into interesting conversation with the varied, interesting and friendly regulars. Cheesy Thursday (first Thursday of the month) is popular as are weekly meat raffle (drawn on a Sunday) and regular quizzes which raise funds for charities close to the landlord’s heart. Sunday afternoons are particularly friendly occasions with many people taking their children and dogs to enjoy a nice relaxing chat over good beer. No phones, no music, no pinging fruit machines. It’s great! It can be very quiet... I’ve been in there when it’s only me, my husband and the landlord (or one of the friendly bar staff) but that is just as nice as the times when it is busy and full of conversation. Give it a try!

What a little gem this place is! We stumbled upon it last Saturday evening, when we had a quick pint (it closes at 10pm). It was such a refreshing change that we decided to go back again on Sunday afternoon, and I'm glad we did. For those who want to enjoy hearing yourself think, being able to hear yourself speak and enjoy pleasant conversation, this is well worth a visit. Good selection of real ales and, if this micro pub is anything to go by, I can see why others are opening. It really was a different and pleasant experience. Tried a few ales and I really enjoyed the ginger cider. Many thanks to the landlord Andy. See you again on my next visit South 👍

A much deserved accolade awarded to a Micropub for the first and, hopefully, not the last time. Good real ale, cider and conversation, and enthusiastic beer drinking Guvnor and great staff on occasions when he is absent. On the 51 and 132 bus routes so easier to get to than the map might at first suggest.

Saturday afternoon - rain, the shelter of the 51 at times and good company Followed the micro pub route on the 51 with a group and this place was a good stop. Lovely beer had by all and the barman went out of his way to make the pregnant lady in our group a tea - good lad. Locals were very friendly and moved to accommodate our group and table and seats - nice people Also seems like there is a market for micro pubs and similar toilet signs in the area- new business idea ???? First visit will be back. Top picks Constantly changing real ales

I arranged a meet-up with some local friends who I had met at other Discworld events*. The pub is not vibrant; it is a place for good beer and relaxed conversations. Signs on the tables request that mobile phones are silenced You pay for the beer but tea and coffee are free; a small donation to the Alzheimer's charity box is suggested.
