Ticks all the Micropub boxes, great place for cask ale, cider and conversation
One of a series of Micropubs in Bexley Borough, each individual. Cask ale and cider sold from a rear cooled room straight from the cask. Low tables and chairs for quiet groups but a solo visit always ends in conversation too. If you live locally and have never tried a Micropub then do give this place a try. Enthusiastic licensee who knows and enjoys his beer too which always helps.
Thank you, everyone is always welcome

The man who loves his beer!
A pleasant atmosphere with a welcoming host, who clearly loves his beer. Every time I visit there is a new real ale to try. Andy (the landlord), clearly knows my taste preference by now and is always willing to give good recommendations for my next pint. There is always a good selection of beer, Cider and even wine and soft drinks. The Broken Drum host's charitable quiz nights and lives by a good ethic of promoting people to talk and enjoy each other's company and get their faces out of their phones. I recommend you visit this gem.
    Thank you, its a pleasure

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed The Drum on here before. I’ve been a regular visitor since this Blackfen gem opened. You always get a friendly welcome and you always get a good pint (or more). With an ever changing selection you can never get bored and as well as good real ale there are ciders, soft drinks and small bottles of wine if you prefer. Everybody is welcome and you can sit quietly, play a traditional board game or game of cards or enter into interesting conversation with the varied, interesting and friendly regulars. Cheesy Thursday (first Thursday of the month) is popular as are weekly meat raffle (drawn on a Sunday) and regular quizzes which raise funds for charities close to the landlord’s heart.

Sunday afternoons are particularly friendly occasions with many people taking their children and dogs to enjoy a nice relaxing chat over good beer.

No phones, no music, no pinging fruit machines. It’s great!

It can be very quiet... I’ve been in there when it’s only me, my husband and the landlord (or one of the friendly bar staff) but that is just as nice as the times when it is busy and full of conversation.

Give it a try!

What a little gem this place is!

We stumbled upon it last Saturday evening, when we had a quick pint (it closes at 10pm).

It was such a refreshing change that we decided to go back again on Sunday afternoon, and I'm glad we did.

For those who want to enjoy hearing yourself think, being able to hear yourself speak and enjoy pleasant conversation, this is well worth a visit.

Good selection of real ales and, if this micro pub is anything to go by, I can see why others are opening. It really was a different and pleasant experience.

Tried a few ales and I really enjoyed the ginger cider.

Many thanks to the landlord Andy.

See you again on my next visit South 👍

A much deserved accolade awarded to a Micropub for the first and, hopefully, not the last time. Good real ale, cider and conversation, and enthusiastic beer drinking Guvnor and great staff on occasions when he is absent. On the 51 and 132 bus routes so easier to get to than the map might at first suggest.

Saturday afternoon - rain, the shelter of the 51 at times and good company

Followed the micro pub route on the 51 with a group and this place was a good stop.

Lovely beer had by all and the barman went out of his way to make the pregnant lady in our group a tea - good lad.

Locals were very friendly and moved to accommodate our group and table and seats - nice people

Also seems like there is a market for micro pubs and similar toilet signs in the area- new business idea ????

First visit will be back.

I arranged a meet-up with some local friends who I had met at other Discworld events*.
The pub is not vibrant; it is a place for good beer and relaxed conversations. Signs on the tables request that mobile phones are silenced
You pay for the beer but tea and coffee are free; a small donation to the Alzheimer's charity box is suggested.

Visited here as part of a micro pub crawl of South East London. This pub typifies what is great about these relatively new type of pubs- cosy, quiet with a small range of excellent beer. Owner ws very friendly and chatty. Easy to miss though, just before the A2 flyover- but was busy enough when we went on Saturday afternoon.

Being the only ones in here it is hard to review.
I drive by daily and the place always looks empty.

That said the barman was friendly and we had a little chat but I cannot recommend this place.

Nice micro pub, serving good real ales. Perhaps a bit devoid of atmosphere if you are on you're own.

One of a growing number of micro pubs in the Sidcup area. Small & crudely decorated, it serves a great selection of real ales & ciders (there are wines & soft drinks available)which are constantly changing . As is the way with micro pubs, there is no music or other distraction, talking on your phone is frowned upon & talking is encouraged. The landlord knows his beers & breweries & is happy to tell you about them if asked, but doesn't seem to be one for a chat otherwise. Hubby & I go there quite often & enjoy a pint or two .

Choice of ales is limited to 3 barrels but you can check Facebook page to check latest (if updated). Normally has a bitter plus choice of a lighter option and often a stout.

Always good for a stop off for a couple of pints. There are traditional board and card games if you fancy that to take the time or simply have a chat. Friendly atmosphere
