Who on earth rated excellent ?!

It doesn’t seem as though management have a clue about hospitality or how to run a hotel. I was pretty angry at the fact I had paid almost £300 for 3 nights to have a room with: - cigarette burns in the duvet - a damp room with the wallpaper damp and falling off - camping beds with a rock hard mattress - bed bugs - a shower which was very weak and was unable to change the temperature - breakfast room with a leaking roof - having advertised free WiFi but having no WiFi at all After attempting to have a shower I’ve used the towel they’ve provided to find someone’s used contact lense on my leg which was pretty revolting but by this point neither shocking The manager was driving around in his car like some 17 year old who had just got their first car revving his engine every half an hour in the evening. We were told when booking a room we couldn’t have the room we wanted as everything was fully booked, as I was there with my partner for a family celebration unfortunately there wasn’t really anywhere else to go annoyingly we were stuck with it and with no other room to move in to. When leaving I did want to request some sort of part refund for the room as it was terrible but the only person around was the young lad who served us breakfast in his tracksuit.. I can honestly say it was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. It is such a shame because the staff seemed pretty friendly but the place is just so run down and badly run, I always route for an independent business and it’s such a shame that they don’t try to improve the place with the money people have spent here. For the price it cost to stay I would recommend staying else where.

Great coffee stop

Hawkhurst is an extremely nice village and this pub compliments it well. Nice interior, car park, comfy settees and armchairs for those wishing to slump down and friendly bar staff. All the main boxes ticked.
Hawkhurst is something of a bottleneck so I always expect to get held up on the way through. The coffee is good so what better place to stop off for a little light refreshment before continuing the journey to the coast or back up through London?

Friday night steak night, offer. Great. Value .
£15.00 Rib eye, Sirloin or fillet all served with wonderful fat chips, onion ring and tomato, mushrooms, cooked to perfection
Also offer a wider choice of menu ,if you don't want steak.

Ambience is lovely. And service was really friendly and nothing was to much trouble

Been here many times with friends and family or all ages, never had a bad experience yet. Always friendly staff and amazing food. Can't find a negative thing to say.

We come here often now as the new extensive menu, value priced menu and great service, means there is no need to find anywhere better

Good pub
Regularly visit this place for a drink. The bar area is very nice. It has recently been refurbished. This place has a nice relaxing atmosphere. Worth a visit

Good for a drink, not much atmosphere
We stopped off here on a Saturday for a little drink as we were exploring the area. I think it's also a hotel, and it sort of feels like it, as there's no local atmosphere.

The drinks were fine, and the pub has wi-fi access, which is useful in the area. There is some outdoor seating, though not as much as you might imagine for a pub of that size.
