I congratulate PTU to have matured and caring team leads (Jolly, Shashikiran and Hitha). The trip was well planned keeping in mind of the assorted team members with varying trek capabilities and strength to endure. Had a pleasant time..thank you.

One of the toughest treks in South India
Jan 2017 • Solo
The peak can be reached from two points, from kukke subrahmanya side and the somwarpet side. One way distance from kukke is 14kms and the other is 7 or 8kms. I did the trek from kukke side. The first 7kms is through the thick forests which is a wonderful route. Its not a flat route and the elevation goes on and on. Bhattaramane enroute is a good resting and refreshing place. If you are coming in group, you can call them in advance and order for food and stay. Weekends will be jam packed. You can pitch tents in front of bhattaramane or forest dept. No camping is allowed on the peak. You have to leave all the gears in the forest office itself. They charge Rs.200 per person. The place is too humid. Carry enough water, atleast 2 litres per person. The peak is where you find a 'shantamallikarjun temple'. The last 2 km stretch is the easiest.

Toughest trek in Karnataka
Dec 2016 • Friends
Arguably the toughest trek in karnataka. The views along the route are breathtaking. Bhattaramane enroute the trek path is good for the tired legs.

My First longest Trek
Dec 2015 • Friends
Kumaraparvata trek is my first longest trek. This trek can be rated Moderate to Difficult as per my experience. The one way trek is 13KM and can be started from Kukke or Somvarpet. Most of them start from Kukke, I was told that Somavarpet doesn't have much connectivity to transportation.

The first stop of my trek was at Bhattaramane which is 6 KM from the start and in between the whole trek. This place provides food for a minimal price (but make sure to call up this place to order food in advance else you will not find any for sure). Carrying Sleeping bags and tents, eatables would be the highly recommended, water can be refilled at bhattaramane.

And make sure to get your receipt from the forest department office before you start the remaining half of your trek. Once you begin your second part of the trek, you will come across Seshaparvata which is the toughest of your entire journey. The trek after this mountain is almost easy to moderate. It was wonderful experience, beautiful views and breathtakingly awesome sunrise and sunset.

Peak to explore in Karnataka
Nov 2014 • Solo
Trek Duration : Around 30 hours with Camping .

Camping overnight recommended to spend some time in the peak.

Trek can be started from either sides , subramanya or Somvarpet .

Roughly around 4 kms from Subramanya side , there is a house (Bhatra Mane) - Make sure to stop and have some authentic meals .

Camping and trek - To be done after monsoon to see complete green patches - Sep-Dec .

The moment u enter kukke u know ur in for an experience of a life time. You have to walk for a few kms before u reach the foothills and then the journey begins. At first a bit difficult but then you get used to it. Doesn't get any easier anywhere. You just have battara mane on the way where u get some tasty food and mark my words you will feel like u just had the most deserving meal of your life . Then from there u reach mantapa . It had four stone pillars and a stone roof from there its another 2 hours to the top. View at the top is not all that great . But the way is what makes it worthy. The hill above mantapa has the best view is what I felt.
