Panama Outdoor Adventures is an eco-adventure site located in the jungles of Panama on the Caribbean coast, only 1 hour drive from Panama City. Activities include CANOPY ZIP-LINE ADVENTURE, RIVER TUBING, HORSEBACK RIDING, NATURE TRAILS, BIRD...more
Canopy zip lining is a great way to explore the rainforest. Panama Outdoor Adventures is a right turn 20 km before you reach Portobelo, about 3 km into the forest, on a dirt road and I would advise against a city car like our Kia...More
In February I made a reservation for myself, my wife and my daughter for the zip line and river tubing tour on a date in May. I did that by contacting Panama Outdoor Adventures. The person who responded was “Sharkey” Lopez who is the owner....More
We had a nice time zip lining and the guides were friendly and informative. Having worked in the outdoors I was a bit disappointed in the safety equipment. Harnesses were good but the carabiners have seen too much use and need to be replaced with...More
We did a cruise for our honeymoon through the Panama Canal. We had a day stop in Colon and decided to try the zip lining! This was by far the highlight of our trip! The trip and transport was arranged via seafaricks zoo/animal rehabilitation centre-it...More
We travelled from Panama City to Colon in the morning and arrived to POA just in time for our adventure to start. When you get there you have to sign a disclaimer. Once everyone's ready, you have to walk to the first platform, which is...More
The place is beautiful, very natural, the river is clean and it would have been a great day except that they expect you to brake with gloves that are full of holes & don´t have any kind of safe landing in each of the zipline...More
First of all, if you make the proper arrangements you will not have any difficulties at all. I called ahead, was told to pay first at Safaricks Zoo (easy to find if you use google maps), then drove to zipline location. ANY 4 wheel drive...More
I was visiting Panama City with my sons, ages 11 and 14, and had heard that there were ziplines in the rainforest and thought it would be a fun activity. I found Panama Outdoor Adventures here on Trip Advisor and saw that it was highly...More
My friends and I were looking for something to do and she really wanted to do ziplining. I was hoping to find one that had a high weight limit as I'm on the heavier side. Well this one was it. The owner was great! He...More
I called in Monday morning for the Ziplines tour to be answered by a voicemail and asked to be called back. Anyhow we went on our way to this place after the GPS told me we arrived with just jungle. Drove one kilometer further and...More
Nope, no animals on this zipline. If you want to see them, I highly recommend taking a day trip out to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. They have a lake tour that allow the monkeys to come up to you on your little boat! Tons of... More
Nope, no animals on this zipline. If you want to see them, I highly recommend taking a day trip out to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. They have a lake tour that allow the monkeys to come up to you on your little boat! Tons of birds and a very easy drive to the resort. I've blogged about my Panama trip here if you are interested!
We have 3 weeks in total and are looking to spend about a week in the Panama City area. I am trying to figure out if it makes sense to spend 2 of those nights on the other side of the Isthmus to cut down on the travel back and forth. Sierra Llorona is in our price range and looks fabulous, but I am not sure if it will cut down on the travel time to my destinations listed below. Looking at a map does not really tell the whole story so am hoping for guidance from someone who is familiar with...More

Soberania and the Chagres River are closer to Panama City that to Sierra Llorona. (Not sure about Panama Outdoor Adventures.) Portobelo is much closer to Sierra Llorona -- within an hour or so. Where in Soberania are you planning to hke?

Panama Outdoor Adventures Zipline Portobelo (3 Replies)
Has anyone tried this Portobelo area zipline recently? We are conservative with the safety of the ziplines. We would love to try this one, but need reassurance after reading some reviews. Should we skip this one and do this at el Valle or boquete?

I haven't done this zipline because I haven't been able to get any replies from the management by email, Twitter, etc. I highly recommend the one in Boquete, as it's the longest in Panama, and it's got some very nice views of the Barú volcano. El Valle is very short, but if you aren't planning to go to Chiriquí, you could get your kicks here.

The closest beaches are 90 minutes+ drive (north or west). There are two "old Panamas" - the ruins of the original city, and the historic old town which was built after - they are about 10 miles apart.
