Popped in after dinner since I had not seen it here before. The setting is nice and what you would expect from a cocktail bar but it was exceptionally quiet when we came but it was early. The staff were friendly and there is a quite extensive cocktail list at relatively reasonable prices. No complaints from me.

We went for a birthday party.
It is a large room with seating around the sides.
They had a band playing mostly 60’s and 70’s music we could dance to.
Drinks are not very expensive.
I am surprised at some of the reviews as we had a good time and will return.

Came here for drinks on Saturday 28th January 2017 to celebrate my birthday. The cocktails were really great and although they were expensive, it felt like you were getting a good cocktail for your money. Whereas some places, like tgi Fridays for example, taste very watered down. Had a fun night and the live music was great. Will definitely be back!

Having just moved to the area thought I'd investigate the local bar scene (I work in hospitality) and popped into Greater than Gatsby.
From what I saw, Bromley needs a good cocktail bar and this clearly isn't it.
The previous reviews are actually true, in really did smell of bleach as I walked in which is astonishing at 8pm!
There is nothing "Gatsby" about the place, the decor is 00's tac, the music is 90's/00's hip hop blasting out so all of Bromley (and the surrounding areas) can hear.
And the cocktail list is a joke. The "Cast" section (I'm assuming it's their "signature" list) is classic cocktails with the names changed...... lazy!
The other classic cocktails are listed under "speakeasy"...... I'm pretty sure the Apple Martini wasn't that big in 1920's prohibition USA!
Add to this the fact that the Negroni I ordered was shaken (even after the bartender and manager had hacked the specs!), if you list these drinks, know how to make them!
This place could have been good but has been ruined by lazy, uninspiring management.
Someone open a good cocktail bar in Bromley, Please!!!!

I had booked a party here and the booking was confirmed by email. We turn up and the place isn't even open! It was hugely embarrassing and disappointing for us all as we were very excited about trying it out despite the dubious reviews.
I contacted them a few days later and requested to speak to the owner/manager (Alex) as I was hoping for an apology and his response was... "Dear Danielle, I fail to see how we can help you and recommend that we do not engage in any further correspondence".
So, although I cannot recommend the actual venue I would advise staying clear if you actually want to plan a night there as they clearly do not care about honouring booked parties.

You know those shops that sell bejewelled and tacky furniture for people with no taste? This is the bar equivalent. It's brashly loud, rough as sandpaper and the pictures on the wall are from Moulin Rouge, not The Great Gatsby. It is therefore the perfect embodiment of the hollow, cheap and glitzy lifestyle F. Scott lambasted in The Great Gatsby. A conceptual masterpiece. 5 stars.

Popped in here to try it out. A huge fan of the ‘The Great Gatsby’ book, but this place as nice as it looks falls far short of the atmosphere that is should have. Poorly designed seating area that feels vast and uninviting. The bar area is okay though if way too steep on the drinks and the ambience is lacking due to the lack of people on the venue. If the seating areas were made more inviting, cosier and comfortable this would encourage and entice people in and maybe even stay, giving it more a speak easy feel and ambience fit of the name that Gatsby himself might actually have been proud of. For now... it’s disappointing and soulless. Such a shame as I’d had high hopes for this place.

Was here for a workplace party.
-
On our visit the venue appeared to be just a room with a bar, almost no seating and a DJ playing so loud (for the size of the room) that conversation was impossible. Everyone had sore throats the next day from having to shout so loud.
-
At the bar, the staff cast surly looks at the customers - a smile costs nothing guys! I saw one colleague raise an issue about a filthy glass. The staff just poured the drink into another, less dirty glass and handed it back.
-
A back room was being used as a cloakroom if you didn't mind just throwing your coat in a pile on a table. This is also where our uninspiring buffet was laid to rest. The room was so poorly lit we had to use the torch tools on our mobile phones to see what there was.
-
Meanwhile, upstairs the otherwise modern furnishings of the gents toilet were let down by broken soap dispensers and one of the taps had been broken off the wall and was lying in the sink.
-
Sadly a poor first impression will remain a lasting last impression.

We booked to come here for my friends hen do - we paid for food for 28 guests.... we were given 16 plates - with about the amount of food you'd expect as a starter. They didn't charge us for the food, as we drank the money in drinks, however it meant the mother of the bride going to McDonald's! The bride asked for more food but they said they'd run out! We didn't lose out money wise but it was embarrassing for those who had excepted a decent buffet and ended up with chicken nuggets from the Golden Arches!

Came down on a Saturday night, the staff are very helpful! The cocktails were to die for, went down very well with the DJ.
It's finally nice to find somewhere that doesn't have the usual young an unsophisticated typical bromley crowd.
Will definitely be going back for there singles night!
