Full of nostalgia lovely to spot things from childhood/early workdays before computers ruled the world! definitely worth a visit well done to the volunteers who look after the barn.

Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. There is so much there and you can spend hours here!! Free parking and there is a park next to it too. No toilets or restaurant but you have to forgive that for how interesting it is!! Open every 1st and 3rd weekend in the warmer months

Upminster attraction often missed

This is a very interesting museum, be it small they have lots of history recorded here. The curators are greatly informed and enthusiastic to offer their knowledge. Children
May find it interesting.

Well worth a look if you have any interest in bygone times. There is a mixture of old domestic items as well as bits of agricultural tools and equipment. If you are of advanced years it's very nostalgic. You hear people in there remark "Oh, I used to have one of those" or "my mother/grandmother used to use one of those" all the time. It's free as well so do have a look. It's staffed by volunteers and only opens a few weekends in the summer so you need to go online to find out when it's open or check in the local free paper.

Packed full of nostalgic artefacts it is an interesting way to spend an hour or so. Could play pitch and putt afterwards at the course next door. (Only open certain times)

Not much to see. Expected much more.
Nice park outside however with a lovely playground.
Parking is dangerous though, many potholes.

Magnificent Medieval Barn
May 2016 • Solo
I was in the area and had often noticed the sign on the main road from the A127 to Upminster Station. There is a large car park (primarily for the adjacent playing fields) and the Barn lies along one side of this.
On entering the barn I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff who explained the history and what there was to look at. Having been in use as an agricultural barn up until the 1970s the barn now houses exhibits relevant to the area. These are a bit of a mixed bag and personally I thought made the interior a little cluttered and could have done with a degree of labelling to aid explanation. The barn itself though is magnificent particularly the Oak beams supporting the roof and the lights really highlight this. The barn is free to enter, the staff are friendly so it really is worth taking a look if you are in the area.
