Very well done small museum. Exhibits on early life, industry, and impacts of spanish colonization and pirates/ sea life. Great early clothing and cool cutaway of sailing vessel. We were impressed and enjoyed our stop.

The cultural center is set in a remarkable yellow colonial edifice right on the main Campeche Independence Sq, next to the Cathedral.
It's a nice place to learn about history of this city invaded by pirates so many times (there's a pirate ship replica inside). It also explains the colonization and navigation in those times.
Most of the displayed have English translation. Great place to hide from the heat and learn something for free.

Nice surprise. Enjoyed this 30 minute show. Bright and colourful. Also enjoyed the evening show at the Land Gate. Starts at 7:30pm outside the Land Gate and then you follow a guide up onto the wall. The guide tells a very interesting story about the history of Campeche - pirates, Conquestadores, etc. However, it is only conducted in Spanish. You are welcome to join in if you don't speak Spanish. Great to be up on the walls at night when they are lite. Great views down onto the old town.

The larger than life photos of pirates are very convincing, although I’m not sure how they knew what each one looked like. Several different rooms, well laid out. Lots to learn of Campeche wood used for dye, sisal for ropes, quite ordinary stuff that brought traders for years till consumption or commodity dried up. Fascinating cross section of a galleon and description of several different boats through the ages.

When we were here (7th of March 2019), the lightshow did not take place. We were told it is only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Too bad 😔 But the palacio and its surroundings is very beautiful, also at night.

The light show, starting at 8 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, was fantastic. The whole family enjoyed it. It lasted about 30 minutes. The atmosphere was pleasant with several families and couples enjoying the show. We would have gone back another night but it didn't work for our schedule.
During the day, we went to the exhibits inside the building. It took less than an hour and my two elementary aged kids enjoyed it. The museum wasn't as hands-on as I was led to believe by the tourist information desk, but it definitely held my kids' attention. We particularly enjoyed the big pirate ship upstairs that showed the different compartments, the video in the "ship hold" and the clothing on display.

Here on this building at 8pm there is a light show worth watching. Best part is that it is free and is 30 minutes long.

The inside of El Palacio Centro Cultural is a museum that describes the history of Campeche. It's quite interesting, and does have some signs in English. There is a motion simulator of a ship as well. At night, there is a light show projected on the outside of the building, which you can view from the park. Highly recommended!

Check out which nights the show is on as not performed every night .... this is the most fantastic free light show not to be missed whilst in Campeche. Starting at 8pm lasting almost an hour, set to music, the incredible, spectacular show portrays the history of Campeche, scene after scene, ever-changing amazing colourful murals flash and evolve one to another in front of your eyes. Well done and thank you Campeche for such an enjoyable performance.

How can I find out for sure what days the sound and light show is on? Some reviewers has said that it is everyday while others have said that it is only weekends (does that include Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays)?
I understand that there is another light show at Puerta de Tierra that runs from Thursday to Sunday but I am not looking for that one.
Hopefully someone can help. Thanks.

I was there two months ago and the show at the main square by the Cathedral was happening every night at 8.00pm
I don't know if they have other times and days in the seasons
