This was much better than I expected. We stopped their as an afterthought on the way to Edzna. The fort is well restored, colorful and photogenic. Each room housed artifacts on different topics pertaining to the local area...everything from the geography to the area's pirate...More

This isn't the biggest museum ever, and that's a plus. A small museum is a better option for me than one that takes all day to walk through. I'm happy to see somethings, but I don't want to see everything. Anyway, this place filled my...More

Drove all the way out to see the fort and Calakmul Mask but it’s closed for renovations until April (even tho website says opened) so mask has been moved to museo de Arquitectura Maya in the historical district. Definitely worth going there to see it.

This is one of two main historical forts that were built near the old walled town of Campeche. It is now a museum and definitely worth visiting.

Lots of Mayan history and cultural information. There are 7 or 8 different rooms with various Mayan artifacts along with the fort and spectacular views.

A piece of history from 1770 not to be missed! The fort is perfectly maintained and it has eight different exhibit rooms with Mayan pieces from several Campeche’s archaeological sites. My teens were impressed by the history of this fort which is part of our...More

Located outsite (4-5km) of campeche. You have to drive by taxi or car. It is a small museum, but it has a good exhibition of maya artifacts. The description is mostly in spanish, but it is worth to visit.

Well worth the short trip from Campeche centro. Although a small fort compared to the Spanish forts in Cartagena or San Juan, it is still a nicely preserved edifice and also contains a small, but nice Mayan museum. Recently renovated bathrooms/banos.
