We were picked up promptly at the scheduled time (8:50) by Maurizio. We picked up one other couple and then headed for the mountain. Maurizio was pleasant, easy going and very knowledgable. The first stop we walked inside a lava tube but not until we had the proper safety equipment - hard hat, headlamp & flashlight. We then drove up the mountain to the parking area at 2,000 metres. We had a 10 minute stop for coffee and restrooms. Maurizio led us on a hike around several craters pointing out lava flows, craters and plants. He knew all the dates of each flow. We returned to the parking area and had 30 minutes of free time. We hiked around another crater and took more pictures. We drove to Valle del Bove where Maurizio led us on a short hike to the spot where a lava flow had stopped right behind a house. We also discussed the different types of lava found there. Maurizio drove us back to the pick up spot and dropped us at 14:30. We don't usually do guided tours but this tour was worth the money. We tipped Maurizio for his excellent work and friendly manner. Thanks Etna Est.

The guide was very knowledgeable and willing to share the information with us. You could feel volcanoes are his passion and Etna is his love. It felt like they are not just guides, but guardians of the area. The trip was professionally organised, people who didn't have proper equipment got everything from them, so there was nobody who would lag behind or cause problems because of wrong preparation. The pace was not high, so that everyone can do it, and (at least for us) it was not very challenging. The summit craters render one speechless, and if you thought about skipping the hike to the top due to the price, reconsider it! From all Sicily's attractions, Etna is the number 1, and easily worth the money - you'd miss a lot if you did any variant which doesn't go to the summit. The trek after cable car and jeep ride was long enough - you get not only to see the summit craters, but also other interesting stuff.

Me and my friends spent 1st od January at Etna vulcano. It was incredible, the mountain and the nature are beautiful, company too, and our guide Simone told us everything about vulcano life and death, history, and about what it’s like to live at the foot of the vulcano. He was well prepared and took a good care of us.
That day was perfect. So I can say: Wow, what a magnificent start of 2020.

We had the most incredible Etna Trekking Tour with guide Giulia. Probably rated as the most exhilarating and educational hike/ trek up a mountain we have experienced. Giulia’s passion and knowledge of Etna was extraordinary and made the day beyond our highest expectations. I had never previously appreciated the value of a volcano, and Giulia’s guidance has opened mine, and the rest of our groups, eyes and mind to something that we will share and grow.

Amazing tour to Gole dell’Alcantara and Mt Etna. Our guide, Gaetano, explained volcanic activity which created the gorge and craters of Etna at a level our children could understand and be involved in the discussion. A lovely surprise was walking through a cave created by past eruptions of Etna-lots of fun for the kids wearing hard hats and using torches. Many thanks to Gaetano for a fun and educational experience. Our hike on Etna was also a highlight.

Simone was our tour guide for this trip and he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable on Mount Etna and all the history behind this mountain and the surrounding villages. He was very helpful as my friend and I were finding the walk up quite hard but with lots of breaks we made it and we are so glad we did the views were great of the craters below us. I would highly recommend this tour. If you are not good at hiking the half day trip is the one for you.

The wonderful city of Catania, in the east side of Sicily Island, offers a lot of opportunities in terms of attractions and monuments. For me, the TOP, is always the spectacular mount ETNA. In this picture you colid appreciate from Nicosia (Enna).

You should see Etna If you are in Sicilia. We did this with a guide and jeep but could as well do this by ourselves. Unless you are interested in the name of all the plants and mineral content of the stones you can just drive around and look at old lava by yourself (read though and follow instructions). We payed 225 eur for two adults and two small kids for 3 hr private trip where only parts of it were interesting.

It's been a wonderful unique experience. Carmelo, our guide, was so passionate and professional. It's an excursion that anybody can do quite easily, explanations were clear, easy to follow and extremely interesting. He has a deep knowledge and happy to answer to all questions also by showing pictures and videos of his personal past experiences.
Absolutely a MUST if visiting the Catania area!
