An icon on Northland’s horizon, the Poor Knights Islands are both a complete Marine Reserve, and a Nature Reserve. The Perfect Day’s half-day cruise takes you snorkeling, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding in sub-tropical waters, sightseeing into the World's largest sea-cave and through spectacular arches. With a dramatic volcanic backdrop and turbulent Maori history, teaming schools of fish and bird life, this is a day you will remember for the rest of your life.

Not the best day for a visit, overcast & 12 knot southerly. Our skipper spent some time finding the best swimming spot for the weather conditions. Visibility was good but the depths were dark, abundance of small fish with the odd larger snapper & kingfish. Spotted a couple of sunfish jumping on the east side of the island. They provide... The tour was professionally run, the ship spacious and not too crowded. Good explanation was given with regard to the surroundings. The supplied equipment - snorkels, flippers, wet suits - were of high quality and well maintained and clean. The ship anchored between the islands in a somewhat sheltered area and significant attention was given to safety. The under water... More

Day trip on the boat is from 11am till 4pm. It takes about an hour to reach Poor Knights island where you can snorkel, kayak, use a reef board or even dive. The islands are really beautiful. The water is cold so a wet suit is advised. Staff aboard are very friendly and go the extra mile. My daughter is... More

I went on the perfect day cruise solo, slightly apprehensive about being alone but more than happy doing so! I shouldn't have worried - the team on board were amazing! There weren't many of us (only about 11, compared to 70 odd on a non-rainy day) so they were able to get to know us all on a personal level... More

Perfect trip. Everyone went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. I snorkeled, kayaked, paddle boarded and swam. Lunch was great. Unlimited tea, coffee, hot chocolate and soup. We came across a sun fish which was beautiful to watch. Loved every minute.

We did the Perfect Day excursion on the recomendation of a friend. It was not quite perfect because the weather was not ideal but we still had an amazing day. The crew are fantastic and the Poor Knights are brilliant - truly an special experience. At the day was capped off by seeing dolphins & a whale on the return... More

We have been wanting to do this trip for many years, and this time we were in the area, the weather was forcast to be perfect, so we went for it. In a word PERFECT. the boat left Tutukaka on time, and we were already given our wet-suit and snorkeling gear. The on board comentary was well done and the... More

Great crew, very attentive to everyone's needs. I was particularly impressed with how the crew helped children in the water. Informative commentary, wet suits, snorkel gear provided, warm showers were a bonus! Even managed a go in a kayak. Tasty lunch and hot drinks provided. Dolphins on the way back.
