When traveling away from home and booking a tour, you just never know what you are going to get and experience until you get there.Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Bernards Tours are the real deal and you get what you payed for and more. From the moment we met our driver" Action" Jackson as he likes to be called we knew it was going to be a special day. We have been to St Martin before but never really saw the island. He was a wealth of information about the island ,extremely friendly and very close buy at every stop. He gave us good recomendations to eat in Mirogot and pointed out things and sights along the way.We stopped along the way to view breathtaking scenery and had a lot of picture taking opportunities. There was water and cold beverages in the vehicle. The price was less expensive than booking with the cruise line These folks are professionals and they know when your ships are leaving and get you back with plenty of time to spare. We enjoyed booking with a local company and touring with the locals. Book with Bernards you will not be disappointed. Cant wait for our next adventure with them next year.

First cruise experience and in looking for options to the Cruise Tours we came across Bernard Tours.
After much research we booked directly with Bernard Tours rather than booking with the cruise line.
Was much cheaper and honestly a better bang for our buck.

We did the option of putting the deposit on the tour and paying the balance once we arrived at the Island.

One thing to know which we did not know at the time. The cruise ship operates on what they call "Cruise Time, or Ships Time" which is basically the time zone from where the ship sets sail from.

Bernard Tours are listed on St Maarten Island Time.

Just make sure prior to booking that you contact your Cruise Line and find out which time Zone your ship is sailing under vrs what the Island time zone is so that you pick the correct tour for the island.
Bernard Tours was very good and responding to this question as well.

Also make sure you take a good look at the map they provide you so that you can find them.
We thought we had a handle on where their booth was but it was a little confusing when we got off the ship.

On our cruise in Feb they were located to the left of the shops once you get off of the ship.
As soon as you enter the shopping "circle" keep to the left, go to the left most roundabout and then go to the security exit which is located basically behind the shops at the left side of the roundabout.
They are located right there once you get out of the secured area.

Our tour guide John was an amazing gent who was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He took extra time so that we could get a ton of photos of the area.
He made the trip very enjoyable and was a fountain of knowledge.

Well worth the price and would definitely use them again.

What a fabulous tour! “Action” Jackson was an excellent tour guide who gave us a very comprehensive tour of the island. The tour lived up to the description listed on the website, and because there were only two couples on the van, it was really like a private tour. Not only did we go to the places mentioned online, but the tour was customized to our requests. Whether we wanted to spend 15 minutes or an hour at a stop, Jackson agreed. The highlights of the tour for us were Orient Beach and Maho Beach, but we did enjoy the other stops as well. Refreshments were provided as promised Jackson was very friendly and informative. The price for this 5 hour tour was most reasonable, and I highly recommend Bernard’s Tours for your next visit to the island.

Meeting place was difficult to find as there was light rain so the person who looked like they normally wait with a sign was sitting down and hiding around a building. (We saw him stand and move once rain stopped).

Once we paid, we waited for almost an hour (had nothing to do with ship time vs local time as I know that will be the next excuse, it was because driver picked up hotel guests first and was simply late). All the seats in the waiting area were taken by other tours and it was almost unbearable due to the smell of diesel from all the buses coming and going.

The van seats were very small and uncomfortable. I had to lean against the window and my Mom needed to stand every time someone wanted to pass by down the aisle as there wasn't room for an adult to pass.

The "iguana farm" was a road side stop to look in trees to see if we could find iguanas. Saw one from the bus, no feeding, holding, or photo opportunities.
We weren't taken to Orient beach as we had booked. Without asking, it was switched to a different beach as it was too windy. We appreciated going to a more protected area but it would have been nice to have been told first. We wasted time as we had to drive around as driver couldn't find parking. This beach was accessed through a restaurant which had very very expensive prices and limited selection so none of us ate... except the driver. We all arrived where he told us to meet the bus and he was another 30-45min late picking us up.

The market had many vendors selling the exact same cheap quality things (likely from China) with very little of handcrafted items. The bathroom break was one of the worst ones I have experienced in any of my travels (no toilet seat, no toilet paper, nothing to wash your hands, door didn't close so someone had to hold it, someone collecting money outside the main door to let you in). I'm not sure where the French pastries were supposed to be, we were looking forward to them but we only saw a hotdog vendor?

We finally arrived at Maho/Sunset beach to watch the planes to be told "look here comes one, does anyone want out?" and we were dumped off on the side of the road and told to meet in 30min at a place that was a 10min walk away so we really didn't get to enjoy much of the main attraction.

The main theme of the tour was all about Hurricane Erma. While I appreciate that this affected this region deeply, it is not the only thing we want to hear and see.

Postives: the driver really was very skilled at driving, especially when backing up and fitting into tight spaces. We felt very safe. He also had plenty of cold drinks to offer. We arrived back to the port with lots of time to spare.

We booked the Pinel Island tour and paid in full. The tour looked good, the price was right, and when we got to the meeting place the folks there were very helpful and friendly. Thus there was a lot of good. However our tour got cancelled because of high winds, the ferry to the island wasn't running. The driver and lead person at the docks were very nice. They assured us we would get a refund since the tour couldn't operate. All was well, and we understood that you can't control the weather. However it's been going on 3 weeks now and we haven't received our refund and our emails are not being responded to. I'm sure if the tour would have operated we would have had a really nice time. However i do feel the need to warn any potential customers that it doesn't look like they will stand behind their guarantees of refunds if something happens. Be aware of this. If by chance our refund does eventually show up, I'll be happy to revise this review or even delete it.

I’d like to start by saying the company was very polite and the van was very spacious for the group of us. They were well organized and they gave us a lot of time at the beach even though we were late getting started. My thoughts are that it would be more cost effective to find a taxi at the cruise port to take your group to Maho Beach as it was really just a drive to and from the beach. The driver didn’t say anything at all on the drive back to the cruise terminal. On the way there I think he was sharing a bit of info with the cruise passenger in the front seat but we couldn’t hear him in the back.
There were 7 of us and it cost us $33.60 CAD Each for this excursion, so I think we could have saved a lot of $$ by booking a taxi when we arrived and we would have had the same experience.

We had no trouble locating our meeting place (based on the instructions given to us when we booked). We had Daniel as our driver and couldn't have been more pleased with his knowledge, wit, driving capability and overall very accommodating. My 75 year old mother sat up front and was in charge of dispensing the rum punch/alcohol/water as requested and Daniel made it an enjoyable and relaxing trip. We enjoyed visiting Maho Beach and spending time at the beach in Grand Case. We were dropped off at the Rainbow Restaurant where we rented 2 chairs and one umbrella for $15. We also ordered two appetizers (Chicken Satay and Mozzerella Sticks) and the cost was $20 total. The food was great and we loved it there. Daniel picked us up and while we were driving to the next stop, one of the guests in the van realized she had lost her phone at the beach/restaurant. Daniel immediately turned the van around, called the restaurant and they had her phone. He was very helpful and a true gentleman. We enjoyed this tour and I highly recommend Bernard's Tours and Daniel as our driver/guide.

We chose Bernard's Tours for our stop in St. Maarten on our cruise vacation. Our driver Mailman was very knowledgeable of the history of St. Maarten and was able to answer everyone's questions about the island. He tailored our tour based off the requests from the group and changed the duration of the stops if we wanted to. We went to a good local restaurant for lunch and had some beach time, but were also able to see iguanas and Maho Beach as some of the bigger planes were landing. I would take this tour again, and would recommend it if you've never been to the island before. We had a great time, thank you Mailman!

We chose a tour of the island as a gift for attending a timeshare presentation. There were no cruise ships in port that day so we ended up being the only two people on the tour. Our Driver/Tour guide was Jackson, "Action Jackson" is what he called himself. Jackson took us to a lot of "off the main drag" locations so we ended up seeing things we never would have found on our own. We had a great day and a great tour. Ask for Jackson next time you book a Bernards Tour.

Due to Covid-19, our cruise was canceled for Sep. 2020. I reached out several times with only a response once regarding a refund. They responded to my first email saying they would work on it, but months later, still no refund. I followed up with a second email and they have never responded. I know these are trying times for the travel industry, but this is not the way to conduct business if you want anyone to use your services in the future when things have started back up. We normally book our excursions through the cruise, even though they can be a little bit expensive, but this is the reason why I have always been hesitant on booking directly through the company. Please know that I do not mean ALL places do this, but I will not book through Bernard's once we are back to traveling via cruises again. Honestly, if they would have responded that they are unable to give us our money back, I would respect that over not responding at all.
