The church is used for a lot of village events during the year including a music festival, photographic exhibitions, concerts as ell as the regular Sunday services at 11 am. Once a month a special service is held for young people.

Almost forgot all about this place. Imposing church and well maintained but the thing I remember most is the lovely garden. Full of very colourful flowers and very peaceful.
Worth a visit and take a relaxing seat for a while.

Cerne is as quaint as one could wish and St Mary's fits in perfectly. The congregation is warm and welcoming and the church is bright and airy with lots of clear glass to let the Dorset sunshine stream in. There are the remains of mediaeval wall paintings as well as 16th and 17th century biblical quotations more in keeping with the Prorstantism of the time. There is a marvellous carved pulpit and, all-in-all, the church has been well looked after and the marks of succeeding generations respected to make a coherent whole. The vicar preaches who without notes, is engaging and eloquent being wholly relevant to the modern world. Today he managed to link the "dry bones" being brought back to life, the raising of Lazarus and Brexit! It was a genuinely moving yet obviously learned tour de force.

Cerne Abbas is a village lost in time, don't expect chain stores or fast food here! A leisurely stroll along cobbled street will lead you to the church, a lovely building containing a calm and tranquil atmosphere. An added bonus is a pair of stocks outside on the street, ideal to place naughty children in...

We visited the church when it was adorn with stunning displays of wildflowers throughout the church. The church felt warm and welcoming and tranquil place to think and have private thought. There was a corner where our children felt immediately at home with a chalk board, some soft play shapes, and plenty of books.
The church oozes character from every corner, not surprising from its c1300 roots.
It is well maintained and cared for.

Just visit this church and take in a service with Rev Canon Jonathan Still RN. He preaches without notes and speaks from the heart. Don’t miss the chance

In the centre of Cerne Abbas you will find this church which was open and welcoming. Wedding flowers adorned the interior. The adjoining littel garden is well maintained and very old cottages line the street.
