This picture is of the Abbot's Porch built around 1500, however the original abbey was built around 987 AD

Its only a 5 minute visit but on a gloriously warm sunny day well worth the time. I love how these structures and their history are kept for all of us to admire. Honesty donation box.

Tucked away down the end of a street the ruins were surprising. The abbey guest house is a rare survivor. It’s a tranquil spot, especially St Augustine’s well. It was £2 to enter via an honesty box. Well worth it.

Cerne is a quintessential Dorset village unspoilt with many beautiful old houses and a couple of decent pubs. The abbey ruins are worth a visit and there’s always the giant as well.

Hidden around the back of a large house at the end of Abbey Street. Interesting facts about the past life of the Cerne Abbey.

In a delighful setting is the remains of this abbey. Not a lot to see but worth a visit. The bluebells were in season and make the gardens attractive.

Little bit disappointed as paid 8 quid for four of us to get into the Abbey grounds but unable to see any buildings inside other than the Abbots Porch. Good walks available through the grounds though which are free.

I don't know the property you mean, but I can recommend The Old Gaol Cottage, if your family are looking for something special.
