We had the most wonderful experience here this month. We did a stable tour and our 4 and 5 year old boys did a children’s ride. Sigga and her daughter were wonderful with the kids (one of which was nervous to ride a horse and both were jet lagged and wound up). My 4 year old said it was his favorite part of our trip to Iceland. With small children too young to do most of the organized activities Iceland has to offer, this is not to be missed if you want to get up close with Icelandic horses.

We arranged a last minute stable visit at Solvangur as my daughter injured her hand before the trip and was unable to ride as she had hoped. The guide met us at the horse center and gave us some history and information about the horses. Then she took us to the stable and introduced us to about 8 horses, providing us with a bit of information about each one. It is clear that she cares very much about these animals and she was very patient and kind - answering endless questions from the children. The horses were beautiful and very well cared for in a nice environment. It was a lovely visit and we will definitely be back in the future for a proper ride.

We just came back from staying in one of the AirBnb units and having a horseback riding lesson from Sigga. The whole family is very welcoming and the unit was quite comfortable. Loved waking up on the peaceful farm and petting the horses and dog.
Sigga is an excellent teacher and very patient. We had a great time in our lesson, and my travel partner didn't want to get off her horse!

I had the pleasure of taking a private riding lesson at Sigga and I can only recommend it! Despite my short-term request, Sigga made it possible.
Sigga's passion for Icelandic horses was evident from the first moment. She introduced me to my horse and made me feel comfortable. Her knowledge of Icelandic horses and her ability to share this knowledge in perfect English and German was perfect.
Sigga carefully selected the right horse for me and adapted everything to my level. Her personal approach and clear, encouraging guidance made the lesson enjoyable and educational.
What stood out in particular was Sigga's genuine love for the horses.
If you are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable instructor who really cares about her horses and students, Sólvangur Icelandic Horse Center is the best choice!

Absolutely lovely and such a happy place. The owner takes great care of all her horses, cats and dog. Super friendly animals and a fun relaxing tour. We appreciate that we were able to get a stable tour despite being late.

Fabulous time at the Solvangur horse centre. Although closed in winter the farm opened up for us and we had such a personal and friendly experience. Great coffee at the end of the tour also. The children 2-15 all four of them learnt so much. Only place also that we could find who would cater for our 2 years and five year old. Weather was beautiful on the day also. Certainly worth a visit to learn all about the Icelandic horse from such passionate people.

My wife, 6-year-old daughter and I spent a very relaxing and fun week at Solvangur in June. Elsa and Sigga, the owners, and their staff are wonderful hosts. The rooms are clean, well-equipped and brand-new. In addition to offering riding lessons (Elsa is an excellent teacher!), it's a great base to explore southwestern Iceland and an easy drive into Reykjavik.
Staying at Solvangur offered a unique experience, especially for our daughter, where she could freely explore the farm and be with the Icelandic horses. She also loved playing with the dogs and the big, cuddly rabbit.
The cafe was a great place to relax and enjoy delicious homecake cakes, teas, hot chooclate and croissants. We would often spend our mornings here while our daughter played outside (a very nice and peaceful break for us parents!) Overall, I highly recommend and will definitely be back!

seeing these horses was the best part of my trip to Iceland. The summer worker from Poland was very informative & knowledgable in teaching us all about the horses. It showed that she had great care for them as well as the farm did. they are treated with love at this farm & the horses were very happy, friendly and beautiful! We also had a nice lunch & dessert there & they sell some warm & stylish jackets for women.Would definitely visit again & spend more time there next time!

The Sólvangur Icelandic Horse Center is such a beautiful place to visit and stay, it's a family owned horse farm within a stunning landscape, with high quality horses, funny dogs and sheep and such a lovely host family. Once you visit this place you will want to stay there. The little cottages named after famous horses from Sólvangur are very clean and decorated with love and heart, the horse scheme is present everywhere and very heartwarming. The cottages contain a modern bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen, so you'll find everything you need! There is also a cozy little stable coffee at the farm where one can get great coffee, cake and lovely horserelated gifts. I would highly recommend a stop and stay at Sólvangur!

What a wonderful place, especially for children. Our kids, 3 and 5 years, had a lesson on the beautyful horses, they brush the horses. Afterwards we eat delicous wafels and drink really Nice coffee. We would recommend this place to everyone.
