The castle is very easy to reach by car. Outside the garden is a must to see. The inside visit is very interesting. Good place for a family visit. Not too expensive. Not wheelchair accesible inside but garden are.

If you plan to visit by car, park in the car park straight off the A1 as it's free, and then take the scenic pedestrian walk which is signposted across the road and takes you through the pretty village to the castle. It's takes around 10-15 minutes to stroll. The castle itself was relatively expensive for what amounted to a... More

Did you know that dutch used land flooding as a defense strategy? Or that people used to put spikes in the ceiling to catch witches? I didn't, and this is just some of the fun things I learned there. Almost all the castle's chambers all accessible, the guide translated and interacted in English with us. He was also very nice... More

We took a tour to Giethoorn. At the end of the day, our guide says you wanna see a castle? Of course! So she stopped at Mukden. It was late and the castle was getting ready to close, but we were able to get close enough to get some great shots. We would have gone in if it was open.

I took the ferry to the castle and I think it was great way to go visit it. The ferry owner is VERY friendly and was able to chat with me. As a fellow scuba diver it was interesting to know more about diving possibilities in Netherlands. The time you get at the castle is enough to take a tour... More

The surrounding town is absolutely charming. Definitely worth the drive to get out here. Beautiful water side restaurants and small shops that will leave you wanting to move here!

Castle was smaller than expected. Also currently under maintenance until December 2016 , so some of the walls are actually fake which kind of distracts from the overall experience. Not to mention the heavy machinery outside. Also, most of the visitors seem to be Dutch people, so getting a guided tour in English is not guaranteed (the guide does speak... More

This is a nice little castle to visit, it was 13 Euros to get in. You can get guided tours of the castle and see the gardens. it is very well kept, with a shop and café in the courtyard.

The castle is nice from the outside... Very expensive for what you get. Mostly for children. Very poor English explanations. Guided tours were in Dutch - the cashier told us we must attend because some of the room are locked for self touring. Over all a very bad experience not recommended for couples , kids might enjoy it.
