Small Local Museum

Anything you need to know about the history of Vechtstreek ( Vecht area), come to this museum. It's located on the yard of the Goudestein. Though it's small musem, it's quite informative. It has permanent collection but also a temporary exhibition. At this moment it's about game and sport in the Vechtstreek.

relatively small museum about the region near the river Vecht

This museum is located in the garden of city hall of Maarssen/municipality of Stichtse Vecht. It is open from Wednesday through Sunday, mainly in the afternoon (depending on the season; 11AM-5PM in Summer and 2PM-5PM otherwise). The volunteer staff is very friendly. The museum has a ground floor level and an upstairs level. It is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor and has a stair lift, but the second floor is not totally fit for wheelchair access. Not that great to go to with small children. It is more catering people interested in the history of the region. It is positive that the museum regularly changes parts of the exhibitions to tell different stories about the history of the region.
