Although it was insightful to visit Sutherland, there is not much to do in the Town and restaurants are limited. Places in town worthy of viewing is not open for just a walk in...you need to phone contact persons to open up places of interest.

The visit was interesting but not very informative, as the luck of the draw would have it, we had an inexperienced guide which detracted from the experience. I am of the opinion that they could make a great deal more of this experience.

We all enjoyed the tour, including teenage kids. It was interesting to learn about and see something ordinary people don't get to see often.

For some reason you can only pay for the tour at the starting time p, now before. It is worth booking as it is very popular. The tour starts with a useful video of space dimensions and the principles of telescopes and astronomy. It makes...More

We did a daytime tour and enjoyed it very much. The guide was friendly and patiently answered all our questions. It is really wonderful to see science in action. The only suggestion I can make is that the staff at the reception area should be...More

We took the day and night tour at SALT. The day tour was very informative and the highlight was the visit to the big telescope. The night tour was also interesting, but our timing was out as it was full moon. Staff was friendly. Tours...More

I would recommend Sterland, with Jurg as your guide for any stargazing in Sutherland. 2 nights minimum, as if the 1st night is overcast you still have a chance for the 2nd night. They do recommend winter as the best time to... More
