About
The dearest place for Niepokalanow people is the "old chapel" where Fr. Maximilian served the Holy Masses, where the friars gave monastic vows, where everything reminds the beginnings of the monastery. They are used to calling it Portiuncula, as if a cradle of the monastery. The chapel had been used as a Memory Room for the objects left by St. Maximilian until the time when the museum was created.

We visited a number of sites in this complex including the museum, Immaculate BVM Mediatrix of Grace Sanctuary, and the St. Maximilian Chapel. Amazing story of Fr. Kolbe who in 1941 was arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Aushwitz. He died by volunteering to take the place of a man selected to be killed.

Visited the entire Maximillian Kolbe complex. It's a short train ride from Warsaw. The grounds are clean, and we did a self tour. It took a little under 3 hours to visit. The cafe was closed, but there was one outside of the shrine. The old lady working in the gift shop was rude, but it did not ruin our visit.

just to be in a simple chapel where a great saint once lived, celebrated mass, and prayed was a tremendous blessing
