Święta Lipka Sanctuary is a Roman Catholic basilica. It is a pilgrimage site and a holy shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was built during the 17th century. The basilica is one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture. The basilica is also famous for its moving pipe organ, which is absolutely incredible and you can find it on youtube. The basilica has also a very interesting history and it was one of the highlights of our trip to this part of Poland.

Getting to Swieta Lipka is also a treat. We had a beautiful spring day, with the late afternoon sunshine over the lakes, as we came from the South. The towns and villages were colorful, and the stork nests were occupied. (Poland is a roosting area for storks, and most of them return, so it is special to see the nests occupied, and feeding - early in the morning, or as the farmers plow.)
We arrived at the Basilica of Swieta Lipka, as the sun was going down, and the outside and inside were lit-up, full of natural light. The Baroque style Basilica is beatufull, with some parts untouched. We arrived in plenty of time for the 6:00 PM Mass, and wanted to hear the famous organ, as well as visit the Church. We started a conversation with Fr. Mark, and had a wonderful tour of the Basilica, before the Mass. He also agreed to meet us after the Mass, to continue.
The ornate gates, the doors and columns dated to early 18th Century (1700s). Church was established here much earlier, with the re-building and reconstruction, many details changed - but the Basilica thrived. As the organist played, the Church filled with music, and singing. Sw. Lipka is beautiful to see, but it is also a beautiful experience to stay and enjoy the Mass here. The rich appointments with large wooden benches, the Ambona, the art....
Highly recommend a visit to Swieta Lipka. Especially if you enjoy the Baroque architecture, and love history. It is 'off the beaten path', but the 'path' is beautiful! This area also has a large Pilgrim's Home, so you can stay overnight here, as well as other Monetarists in this area. Many come for Faith reasons, and many for art. Whatever your reasons, this is a wonderful addition to any travel.

100% worth to visit. The architectural complex consists of a church (built by the Jesuits 17th-18th century), cloisters and a monastery. Rich and varied ornamentation consisting of stone and wooden sculptures, paintings, frescos, golden objects, artistic metal craftwork and a valuable polychrome work have been preserved in an almost unchanged state. The most revered object in the sanctuary is the 17th century painting of Our Lady of Swieta Lipka in the high altar. If you are lucky you can heard organ as well. No fee for church only donation.
But-no free parking around the church.

This sanctuary is impressive: the interior of the cathedral is very beautiful and watching an organ concert is a special moment: the angels and various images move to the music making the concert very special. A must visit in this region of Poland!

It’s a must visit for Christians, architecture and art lovers. The church is beautiful and organs sound so good. I highly recommend 10am organs’ presentation. This shows the range, power and beautiful movable features (stars and bells, for example) of the organs. Obviously, for Catholics, the place has essential spiritual importance, which I don’t need to explain in here.

We were in the vicinity and decided to stop by. Poland is dotted by many towns with many churches and it would be near impossible to stop at each one. This one is beautiful inside and out. The history of it is a miracle. Pope John Paul II came here. And so should you.

This is an impressive Baroque church, complete with exquisite ironwork gate and magnificent altar, but the star of the show is the mechanical 300-year old organ. It sports angels and musicians of various types who move up and down, ring real bells, play a mandolin and move their arms in blessing, while playing mostly hymns, but also Chopin's Polonnaise and Handel's Messiah. Now electrified, the organ was originally powered by bellows pumping air. Organ pipes range from pencil-wide to about 3 meters! The Communists left the place pretty much alone cuz it was so out of the way. The interior of the church features good trompe l'oeil "marble", and there are outdoor cloisters as well. Locals call the church "St Mary of the Lime Tree" cuz one bloomed unseasonally shortly after a man who was miraculously cured of an illness. There's an image of a lime tree on the outside above the entrance, and another inside near the front. I was traveling solo with Real Poland Tours.

Does anybody know where could I find the schedule when the organs play? I was told that they play just few times a day and in winter only when there is a group of at least 10 people. What about now? Maybe someone can tell me exactly or - it would be the best - send me URL where I could check all the information myself. Thank you in advance!
