First of all, I must admit that Slovakia has changed a lot for the better towards Hungarians recently. It was even more shocking to see that there were signs, leaflets, guides etc. all around the church in 8 languages (including e.g. Portuguese (I bet no Portuguese-speaking visitor has visited the church in the past 10 years)), but Hungarian was not included (in a country where 5-10% of the population is still Hungarian and thousands of Hungarians visit this church each year). This cannot be simple negligence, it must be the same old hatred towards Hungarians and this is even more shoking in a place of worship (whereas in commercial places it is impossible now). What sort of Christanism is this? The woman looking after the church, although speaking only in Slovakian, was very nice thuogh, and tried to apologize for this (and it was obviously not her fault). The church itself is worth visiting, it is a really beautiful place.

This church is a very old one but renovated with the esthetic. The main treasure is really the main altar. Generally, the whole church gives you a great impression. It is a bit out of the main attractions, hidden behind the main square, but if you first visit the castle from the top of the tower there, you will see the tower of this church. The church is very beautiful and it invites you to just stop for a moment and sit down and relax and feel the presence of the past, present and future. Check the opening hours for the tourists. Do not do the sightseeing when they celebrate the mass. It is not polite and it is disturbing locals. The person who watches the church can give you some data about the church on paper. They have it in English, German, French.

Basilica was build in 15.century in Late Gothic style. A hidden gem close to main square. Highly recommend to visit.

This basilica minor is little hidden, you must take a short walk from the main square. As to my opinion, the church is more beautiful than the colorful evangelical church dominating the city center. This gothic-renaissance combination of church and a bell is astonishing.

Our Family of Four visited the inside and outside this Church. It is not richly decorated, but the architecture is remarkable, high stone walls, beautiful ceiling, and a Gothic vault, where a saint is buried. Recommended.
