If you are going to enter only once of the three entrances, I recommend Zaino because it is the one where you can see the most beaches and above all it is the one where you can see Cabo San Juan, which is the most visited. You can sleep in a hostel outside the park and enter first thing in the morning. From Santa Marta and Palomino there is a bus, to the Zaino entrance it takes about an hour. He advised that they go first thing in the morning before the heat arrives because the walk can take up to 3 hours. Either you stay in one of the campsites to spend the night or you walk all the way back. To return by bus or from Cabo San Juan at 3:30 and 4 boats leave for $80,000 pesos. You can drink juices or buy water or eat at different points along the way, and although it is more expensive than in other places, given that it is a park, it is not exorbitant.

Challenging walk of about 2 hours there and 2 hours back. We took the shuttle bus to do the first part of the journey which is less characteristic, being an asphalt road, and in this way reduced the total walk which would otherwise have been longer. High temperatures, most of the route is in the shade thanks to the forest. The humidity is very high, it is recommended to bring water and mineral salts. To access the park we were asked for documents and we paid the full price even though in August we expected a reduced price. It is recommended to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and be able to walk at your own pace.

Getting to the beach takes at least 2:30 hours of intense walking, with many climbs and descents on varied terrain (wooden floors, dirt, sometimes mud, slippery rocks, soft sand).
People with mobility difficulties should avoid the tour.
Upon arrival there is a large camping area, with some own tents and others for rent, a restaurant (expensive and bad) and the two famous coves surrounded by pure nature and huge granite rocks.
The waves are strong but nothing that prevents a good swim; surfing is prohibited.
Between the coves there is a small isthmus, on which a hut was built, from where the view is beautiful and the photos are also spectacular.
From the beach there is a trail leading up the mountain to observation points and an indigenous community.
Take your own water and snack, try to arrive early, take all your trash back with you, wear light clothes and shoes for the intense walk, don't dispense with sunscreen and don't forget the repellent on it, and be careful with the alligators in the area. lagoon with salubrious water between the beaches!!

Do not take a boat from Tagana to Tayrona
This was super dangerous. I’ve taken many boats in my day in the ocean and this was insane never have I been terrified for my life. Someone on the boat could not stop vomiting and many people were scared and sea sick. We decided to not do the return even having paid due to how dangerous and uncomfortable this option was also it took 2.5 hours we asked in the beginning and they said it would be 45 min.

The beach was a bit crowded on a Friday. However it was really pretty. We rented horses as it was a two hours walking with my kids. The horses was a bit scary too but the kids loved it at the end and we took the same ride back.

2 hours hike inside the Tayrona Park. Awesome hike if you are into it. You go through 8 different beaches, each one prettier than the one before. You can only get into 3 of them but they add to the scenery. You can go by horse or by boat also but in my opinion you'll loose a lot if you do. Unless you have some issues to walk that much, such as age, overweight, mobility issues, or similars then I think the walk will be the best option.
To get in you need to pay for the park entrance and an insurance policy. Foreigners pay double price for the park entrance. Still it's quite cheap.

We hiked to the beach from the main entrance. This is the most famous beach and also the busiest within the park.
I am usually disappointed with these must-visit places but on this occasion, I was very impressed. Yes, it's very busy and has been commercialized with vendors and bars and cafes.
However, there is no taking away that is a very beautiful location. I was glad we visited and enjoyed a swim from both beaches and stopped for a drink before our hike back.
Definitely worth the effort to visit but start early to get there.

We were told that the walk to Cabo San Juan would take about 90 minutes each way and was a leisurely flat walk. That was not our experience. While this is not a tough hike, there are ups and downs for the first few miles, and the heat and humidity were very uncomfortable. The hike in took 2.5 hours (with about 20 minutes of stops to watch monkeys and take water breaks). The monkey sightings were great. Other than that, I would not do this again because of the heat and the fact that the beaches were nice but not so spectacular that it was worth all that sweating! This is particularly because we walked in and back the same day. Perhaps if you hike in one day and stay overnight, the experience is different. We were not interested in sleeping in hammocks or a tent, though, as we prefer to stay in nice accommodations. Honestly, the beach where we were staying (Casa Barlovento) was as nice as the beaches along this hike, so that was another reason this hike was not worth it for us. I'm sue some people love this experience, but it was our least favorite day of our 2 weeks in Colombia.

I love the Tayrona park and try to go as much as I can. This trail involves a hike that goes through several climates and ecosystems and you end on a pristine secluded beach. We saw mi keys, crabs and all sort of birds and we went through rainforest and desert climates

The hike from the parking lot to Cabo San Juan del Guía took me 2.5hours and it was beautiful.
The staff at the entry of the park and the ones that are at Cabo were very helpful and friendly.
At night is super quiet, no loud music or people partying. Nothing like that.
The camping site is very close to the beach and there are mixed bathrooms and showers, a restaurant and a guy that sells stuffed breads which were delicious and inexpensive.
Can't wait to go back!!!

Hallo Zusammen. Wir würden gerne in der Nähe des Strandes übernachten. Kann man spontan ein Zelt mieten oder sollte man die Vermietung im Voraus kontaktieren?
