I took the Artisans/Handicrafts Day Tour after looking at the website and this is the most interesting day out in Bali. As I was on my own I chose to have Gede drive me on his bike and I rode pillion, which was great as he is a very careful and safe driver - even on the steepest of slopes and most rocky road surfaces! We went to visit real Balinese families down small alleys in tiny villages, in their homes creating traditional handicrafts without all the hard-sell which you usually associate with this kind of tour - in fact in some places I wished they had things to sell! Not always glamourous, there is no romanticizing how difficult it can be to make a living, and some families openly use machines (gasp!), but others are all still done by hand. I was welcomed wherever we went with a genuine warmth and interest in where I came from etc. Gede gave a good explanation of what was going on, materials used and the history behind the product at every workshop. He knows these families well. The range of handicrafts was amazing, from books made of leaves to organic tofu and the beautifully delicate work of the shadow-puppet maker. You can ask for specific artisans beforehand and Gede will arrange to take you there without any fuss. I was specifically interested in textiles and came away with the most beautiful hand-woven silk sarong after meeting the family thats still uses hand looms for weaving - amazing! This was a full day which I would highly recommend to anyone.

My friend and I had two days in lovina and we wanted to explore beyond the city center. Boy are we glad we went with these chaps. They were very friendly and accommodating; took us to aling aling waterfalls, to small villages with views of the rice fields and the ocean yonder afar as well as the beach to catch the sunset. We had the best time exploring with them and highly recommend this.

What a lovely trip!!! 2 very nice Bali locals picked us up with their vespa´s at our hotel at 9 in the morning. We hopped on the back and so the journey began. We went to Aling Aling waterfall where there were NO tourists, just some locals enjoying this little oasis. along the way we got information about the nature and culture of Bali and stopped for some magnificent views! This is definately a trip worth taking if you want to avoid the typical tourist trips.
(and the vespa´s are SO comfy)

After 60 min by scooter where one of them broke down we arriveved in the village. The trekking was not more then 30 min before the guide announced that it was to difficult to get to the waterfall. He told us that he think this tour was not worse the money but he had to do it because his boss told him so.
We ate lunch and walked back to the scooters.
The guide couldn't sppek English and was more interested in taking pictures than doing the so called trek. A local guide joined us to do the extended part of the trek butfound it to difficult and went of, whick we paid extra to experience.

We did not at all get what we paid for - an extended under the waterfall trek.

Thank you for your review. Some points: 1. We do not sell a tour named: "Under The Waterfall Trek". Please read our tour descriptions carefully. You got what you booked: "Under The Waterfall There Is A Cave". In your review it seems as if you had a tour of 30 minutes. I want to make it clear that you had a tour of almost eight hours.   2. If, as you purport, your guide could not speak English, how is it possible that you were able to communicate with him as you wrote in your review.   3. In fact, your guide told you several times that the tour you booked would be really challenging. Because he was in doubt about your physical fitness, he offered you a simpler version of that particular tour which would have been cheaper. You rejected. The first time he told you so, was already when he picked you up at your hotel and not after 30 minutes of trekking.   4. What you wrote about the value of the tour (I quote: „He told us that he think this tour was not worse the money but he had to do it because his boss told him so.“) is incorrect and has not been said.  Could it be possible that it was a communication problem that was caused by a language problem on your side? Looking at your review and the English used provokes this question.    5. You rejected the extended trek along the river leading to the waterfall although four of our guides came along to help the two of you at the slippery and steep parts of that trek. It was you who did not dare to do it. How were our guides supposed to react once you said you would not dare to do the trek? They could not force you, could they? I have to reaffirm that it was not the local guide who found the extended trek too diffiicult, but you.   6. You insisted on the extension of the normal tour to the waterfall along the streambed and, as a customer, you cover the costs incurred (in this case a special guide and the special preparations) even if, as it happened in your particular case, the tour is cancelled upon the customers‘ own request when they notice that it is too difficult for them.   7. You mentioned a breakdown of one of our scooters. On our website you find the following remark which everybody accepts when booking a tour: „As we are using rather old scooters, every single tour might be a bit of an adventure. There is always the chance of cracked bowden cables or other technical difficulties. These possible incidents are part of the historic scooter-scene. Take them as extra-events belonging to your personal Bali-Vespa-Tour.“

Had a great time with these guys. They're genuinely friendly and have a lot of interesting things to tell during the trip. I don't see any reason why you should book a tour with someone else. The vespa's are a cool touch, the tours are original and the scenery is amazing. A real insight in the daily Bali. And for those who are afraid of motorbikes, don't be. They are good with these things and drive careful.

I recently used Bali Vespa Tours with my three children aged seven, nine and fifteen. I was a little concerned about how my youngest two would go and needn't have worried, they had a ball. We went and saw a waterfall which was beautiful and walked through some stunning scenery, through rice terraces and villages and had a yummy lunch (one of the best meals we had in Bali) on banana leaves using our fingers as cutlery true Balinese style. We all saw things way off the beaten track that we simply would not have experienced if it were not for this tour. The guys were all really friendly and gave my kids a piggyback when their legs got tired. We all loved riding on the back of the Vespas and had a fabulous time. Highly recommended and if you have youngish children like I did, do not be concerned at all.

My boyfriend and I just spent 3 amazing days with Bali Vespa Tours - maybe some of the best days of our lives, because we got to explore beautiful places that were only surpassed by the beauty of the Balinese people we met.
We thought the tour might be too far away but there is so much to see and do at North Bali it's well worth it plus Peter arranged for us to stay with him at the Bali Vespa Tours Basecamp with transfers from the airport to Lovina, Menjangan Island and our next destination with a lovely driver Ajik who met us with a big warm smile that made us feel safe and welcome at all times. At night time we sat at Ajik's seaside warung with him, Peter, our wonderfully kind hearted guide Agus, other guests and locals to enjoy company and listen to music. Lots of talented singers and guitarists in this crew! One morning at Basecamp Ajik played a bamboo instrument as we ate breakfast. When he dropped us at Ubud 3 days later we instantly started missing him!
The tour itself with Gede and Agus was incredible. Local people smiled and waved as we cruised up to the farming villages - the Vespa is a perfect vehicle for exploring these parts. On our trek Gede explained farming practices, Balinese customs, showed us useful plants and fruits and helped us to scale up and over rocks to enjoy the magnificent waterhole. Agus made sure we were always safe and comfortable and explained the Balinese way of life. Our lunch which was prepared by Gede's wife was DELICIOUS. Every moment of the tour was amazing, we loved it.
We were really touched by the kindness of everyone at Bali Vespa Tours. One night at Basecamp, Agus carefully made a gorgeous flower arrangement on our bed. It felt like we were hanging out with friends. We highly recommend this experience!

This is honestly the proudest most sincere review I have done. I cannot recommend this trip enough. I would go to North Bali just for this trip alone. For the following reasons;
1. Booking is easy
2. Gede our guide was the nicest and most knowledgeable local we met on our 3 week trip.
3. You feel incredible safe on the cool Vespa bike and experience bali the way locals do.
4. You see REAL Bali. We were the only westerners on the acres and acres of rice fields along the mountains looking at the ocean.
5. Every view out does the next. Better than any view we saw in Ubud.
6. You go for a lovely Balinese coffee in a very local (3 seats) shop which is fantastic.
7. You see all the local farmers at work, Gede even stopped and let us see a local cremation ceremony taking place and explained the Hindu way. He also along the trip while we were trekking showed us local plants and wildlife, something no other guide would do.
8. The trek you do is way way off the beaten track and you are with the locals and there barking dogs (all Bali dogs but we never once felt scared) which is incredible.
9. But the best is the incredibly crystal clear waterfall you get to swim in all by yourself. This is followed by lunch on banana leaves prepared by Gede's wife which is incredible.
10. You sit with a local family at there home (not these compounds you will visit on other tours) and Gede will tell you about there custom. They also made us a lovely cup of coffee we gave the 50,000RP but the didn't ask.
And finally this trip made us experience untouched, real Bali with a safe, friendly and passionate man. The price is also cheaper then a lot of ok tours we did with guides who sat in their cars.

I can confidently say you will not be disappointed.

The Bali Vespa tours activity is a hidden gem in the otherwise touristy Lovina. We spend a whole day with our guide, first traveling on the back of two old vespa's to the less crowded parts of north Bali, and then walked through the rice fields and the green parts of north Bali. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area, all the vegetables and fruits, and the customs. We saw parts of the neighborhood that the other tourists never see that where almost cliche-beautiful. I can recommend anybody that is staying in Lovina for at least one day to do this tour. Our guide was extremely relaxed and entertaining. Even when one of the Vespa's broke down on the way back he quickly came with a solution. We drove to his house, and met the family, and the house cat. There he could borrow his wife's scooter to complete the trip.

We had a fantastic day with our lovely guides Ajik & Agoes. Felt completely safe and comfortable on the Vespas and the walk to the secret pool above the waterfall was a breeze. The pool itself is like something from a fairytale. Authentic Balinese lunch prepared by Agoes to top it all off. Could not recommend this enough. We will definitely be back with more friends and family! Thanks Ajik & Agoes :)
