We were advised to go in the morning before it became too hot. The gardens are laid out beautifully so nice to wander through. There are a lot of steps up to the site and there are new steps being built due to a land slip. This is built on a much smaller scale than Borobudur in Java. If you’ve been lucky enough to have seen Borobudur at sunrise you will know what an experience that is. We were pretty hot after climbing up the steps but then went into the Meditation room with the high ceiling and ornate “alter” and loved how cool and serene it was. This is where the monks come to meditate. There are nice big shady trees to keep cool and our driver pointed out one that was special and that was where the monks will also meditate. The day we were there a wedding was about to take place and the area was set up with white floating draped arches and flowers. What seemed strange in such a spiritual place was the modern music coming through a speaker in anticipation of the impending nuptials. All in all was a pleasant visit and was happy to spend a couple of hours there. There was a small charge I think it was around 20000rp so pretty cheap.
