Sightseeing private tour from Minsk to the City of Mogilev and Buinichi

The city of Mogilev is the regional center of the Republic of Belarus. In Soviet times, it was planned to move the capital of the Republic of Belarus here, for this they built a copy of the building of the Government House. During the First World War, there was the headquarters of Tsar Nicholas II. And during the Second World War, the soldiers of the Soviet army held the defense here for 22 days, the longest was the defense of the city, in all the territories of the Republic of Belarus. The Dnieper River flows through the city, one of the largest rivers in Europe.

Visited with friends. Shows Belarusian history through the ages. Mock ups of traditional dress wear, typical farming scenes, to modern times with mock ups of shops and traditional upper class accommodation. Fabulous history lesson. When we visited there were a few ladies hand making traditional crafts, pottery, linen and very cheap to buy.

Super interesting place, without my Russian speaking company I would have been lost! Apart from that super interesting surf in the museum. It goes back long long time and covers almost e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g what has happened in between the big bang to the WWII (i guess if i remember right). Worth a visit if you have a translator or at least an advance knowledge of Russian

We didn't plan on visiting this museum, but I am glad we did! The staff was very friendly and even though our understanding of Russian is rudimentary at best, they insisted on giving us a tour through the exhibition. We were invited to take as many photos as we liked and were even allowed to interact with some of the items on display. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in learning more about Belarusian folklore and culture. The gift shop is small, but sells lovely handmade items at a fraction of the price they charge at other places.

We found this museum by accident - we were walking around Mogilev and saw this big sign saying 'Museum'. We went in and found out the museum showed the ethnographical history of Mogilev and its region. The staff consisted of around eight ladies who did not speak a word of English - yet some words in German helped us as well. We walked around the museum and soon noticed the ladies were very eager to tell us about the museum and its objects. With our basic-Russian we probably understood 20 % of what they told us, but they told it with lots of pleasure and encouraged us to touch some items and take photos. I would recommend this museum if you are interested in a bit of culture from the region, authentic Belarussian clothing and rituals and old photographs. I must say the exhibition looked quite modern to me. I had a pleasant visit!
