Going to the Tjhia Family House reminds me of my earlier visits to the Tjong A Fie's Mansion in Medan and Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in Penang. All have the similarity of being the house of rich Chinese traders of the past. However, Tjhia Family House...More

I had the best choipan here. Freshly made by the descendants of Tjhia’s family. The choipan tasted even more delish because of the surroundings : traditional houses that holds interesting stories of the past. Will come back again ❤️

The open space is only the front's hall, which is empty, and the praying hall behind it, which is lovely.

It's an impressive old building. The family still lives at the back. There is a small pond with Koi fish inside, and a little garden outside. They also serve the most delicious choi-pan I've ever had. It's a must try when you go there.

The family serves the best 'Choi Pau Pan' in town. The delicacy is made of vegetables (Sengkuang/Chinese turnip, carrot). The trick to make it taste better is to dip with some vinegar and a tiny bit of soya sauce. Simply tasty!!
